한ㆍ중 모더니즘의 전통성 연구

국문 초록

모더니즘이 무조건 전통을 거부한다는 표현은 틀린 표현이다. 서구 모더니즘 운동 대표인물인 T. S.엘리엇은 그의 『傳統과 個人才能』에서 객관적으로 전통을 논의한 바 있고 한국과 중국의 주지주의 실천자인 정지용과 볜즈린도 역시 엘리엇과 같은 생각을 갖고 있다. 본 논문은 주로 모더니즘 문학에 잠재하고 있는 전통성을 발구하고 정지용과 볜즈린 시 속에 감추고 있는 전통의식 및 전통 이미지의 현대화를 규명한 바 있다. 예컨대 본 논문은 정지용 시편 속에 숨어 있는 과정의식과 전체의식을 찾아냈고 볜즈린 시 속의 상대의식과 원형의식을 찾아냈다. 그리고 논문은 정지용 작품 중의 「향수」와 「난초」, 그리고 볜즈린 작품 중의 「魚化石」과 「몇몇이」의 분석을 통하여 전통 이미지 그 자체가 현대성과 무관하나 시인이 지적으로 가공하면 전통 이미지도 역시 현대성을 보여 줄 수 있다는 것을 증명하였다. 정지용과 볜즈린은 공히 처음부터 전통을 버리지 않고 그를 시 창작의 바탕으로 여기면서 자국 모더니즘 문학의 발전 방향을 모색한 바 있다. 이러한 논점의 발견은 한중 주지주의 문학 비교의 가능성을 마련해 주고 있다.

영문 초록

Modernism is not completely unconventional for the concept of "tradition", T. S. Eliot, the typical representative of western modernism, elaborated it objectively in his masterpiece Tradition and the Individual Talent. Korean-Chinese intellectualists Jeong Ji yong and Bian Zhilin have the same viewpoints on it with Eliot. Tradition is a relative concept, and it has modernity. The paper focuses on the analysis of underlying tradition in the modern literature of T. S. Eliot, Jeong Ji yong and Bian Zhilin, and the exploration of traditional consciousness and modernism revealed in traditional images created by the two poets, Jeong Ji yong and Bian Zhilin. Firstly, the paper explores the process consciousness and the integral conception concealed in Jeong Ji yong's poems, and Relative consciousness and Circular consciousness in Bian Zhilin's. Secondly, through the analysis of Nostalgia and Orchids by Jeong, and Ichthyolite and several people by Bian, the author of the paper discovers that though traditional consciousness itself has no relevance to modernism , but traditional images can still reveal the modern sense. Both Jeong and Bian never spurn "tradition" in their early writings, instead, they view it as the foundation of their creative poems. They accepted the western literature; meanwhile, they took great efforts in finding a new way of their native modernism. The discovery in the paper provides possibility of comparative study for Korean-Chinese intellectualism
