허균 문학에 나타난 꿈 형상화와 그 의미

국문 초록

꿈은 인간이 잠자는 동안에 깨어 있을 때와 마찬가지로 여러 가지 사물을 보고 듣고 느끼는 정신 과정을 말한다. 이러한 영혼의 활동은 낮 동안 체험한 사건에 그치지 않고 꿈꾸는 주체의 소망하는 마음까지 담는다. 결국, 꿈의 특성을 통해 인간 세계와 관련된 본연의 문제로 접근할 수 있다. 이 글은 이러한 관점에서 허균(1569-1618)이 저술한 『성소부부고』 소재 작품을 중심으로 그 안에 형상화된 꿈에 주목하여 의미를 읽어 보았다. 먼저 『성소부부고』에 수록된 작품 중 문체에 한정하지 않고 꿈을 소재로 구성한 작품을 살펴보았다. 꿈을 통해 현실에서 경험할 수 없는 선경을 체험하고 선대 문장가와 돌아가신 선조 대왕과의 만남을 그려낸 양상을 볼 수 있었다. 허균은 자신의 꿈을 해석하며 욕망을 좇아 공상에 골몰하지 말고 수련하라 스스로 경계하고, 선경과 천상계를 통해 이상향을 표현하고 현실의 문제를 초월하려 했다. 그뿐만 아니라 꿈에서 선계의 존재와 선인을 만나며 꿈에서나마 인정을 받고 지위가 향상되는 등, 현실에서 이루지 못한 소망을 충족 시키려 하였다. 허균은 현실에서 겪었던 사건을 계기로 〈주흘옹몽기〉, 〈몽기〉 등을 창작하였고, 꿈이라는 우언적 소재를 활용하여 자신의 삶을 형상화하고 있다. 또한, 몽유의 형식을 빌려 단순히 꿈을 제시하는데 그치지 않고 창작을 더해 자신의 의식을 담았다. 꿈은 자신의 욕망과 소망실현의 의미를 내포하고 있다. 자신이 처한 현실이 곤궁하면 할수록 꿈에서는 그에 비례하여 욕망이 증가한다. 허균은 마음속에 품고 있는 여러 가지 생각을 비논리적이고 비체계적인 꿈을 통해 허구의 세계를 제시함으로써 그와 상반된 진짜 현실을 보여주려 했다. 또한, 작품에 등장하는 꿈의 주체를 허상이 아닌 자신으로 그려 현실의 곤궁함을 토로하였다. 허균은 현실의 벽을 인식하고 이를 넘어서기 위해 작품에 꿈을 형상화하고 자신의 이상을 투영하여 문학으로 표현함을 볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

A dream is called as mental process in which human beings can see various things, hear and feel while man is sleeping, just like in his waking hours. Such spiritual activity is not to limit on the experienced case during the day, but to put the wish into the heart of the subject who dreams. Finally, the characteristic of a dream may be led to the natural problems related with the human world. This article reviewed the meaning to note a symbolized dream in the works based on Seongsobubugo by Heo, Gyun (1569-1618). First, of the works in Seongsobubugo, this article examined the work that made writing material with a dream, not to limit style of writing. It found there was the aspect which it was described the experience of the immortal world through a dream, which it couldn't be experienced in the real world, and which he met with the last fine writers and Great King Seonjo, who he couldn't met in the reality. Heo, Gyun red his dream and trained himself not being immersed in fantasy following desire, and he was cautious about himself, expressed utopia by both the immortal world and heaven and tried to overcome the problems in the real world. Moreover, while he met with the existence of a fairyland, a writer and the last Great King Seonjo in his dream, he tried to meet the unfulfilled wishes in the reality, which was recognized even in the dream and his status was improved. Heo, Gyun wrote Juheulongmonggi, Monggi taking the case that was experienced in the reality by him, he formed his life using the periphrastic material referred as a dream. In addition, not he presented simply a dream in a shape of smnambulation he put his consciousness into his work to create more. A dream may imply the meaning of one's desire and the accomplishment of one's wish. The more one's situation is poor, the more the desire a pro rata increases in one's dream, As Heo, Gyun presented the fictional world in what he had in his mind by the illogical and unsystematic dream, he tried to show the real world to conflict with it. Also, as he wrote the subject of a dream as himself in the work, he talked about poor reality. Heo, Gyun recognized the wall of reality, symbolized a dream and reflected his ideal in the work for overcoming it, and then he expressed it in literature.
