시조의 '산' 수용 양상과 문학적 형상화

국문 초록

본고는 시조에 수용된 '산'의 작품과 작자는 물론 유형과 수용 양상을 살펴보고 나아가 문학적 의미를 밝혀 보았다. 이를 요약ㆍ정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 시조에 '산'의 심상이 나타난 작품을 개괄해 보았다. '산'의 심상을 수용한 시조는 단시조가 707수이고 장시조가 229수로 총 936수가 확인 된다. 또한 작자를 일람하였는데 작자는 172명에 502수이며 가장 많은 작품을 남긴 인물은 李世輔로 42수이다. 작자를 통해 시기적으로 '산'의 수용은 조선조 전반에 두루 나타나고 있었다. 한편 작자층은 왕에서부터 문무백관을 비롯하여 가객과 기생에 이르기까지 전 계층에서 다루어졌다. 한편 양적으로만 본다면 문무백관이 주된 창작 계층이라 할 수 있다. 또한 시조에 수용된 '산'의 유형을 분류하였는데 실증산과 관념산, 그리고 조합산으로 분류하였다. 총 123항목에 총 빈도수는 692회이다. 가장 많이 수용된 산은 '靑山'이고 그 다음으로 '空山' 순이었다. 이처럼 고시조에 나타난 '산'은 다양한 유형으로 분류될 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 시조에 나타난 '산'의 수용의 문학적 형상화를 살펴보았다. 시조에 나타난 '산' 의미를 역사적 의미의 수용과 본질적 속성의 수용, 그리고 공간적 의미의 수용 등으로 살펴보았다. 먼저 역사적 의미의 수용은 인물의 탄강과 죽음, 그리고 역사적 사건 등으로 살펴보았으며, 본질적 속성은 오랜 시간의 의미로 수용된 경우와 물과 함께 속성을 추구한 경우, 그리고 산의 외형적 속성을 수용한 경우로 살펴보았다. 다음으로 공간적 의미의 수용은 속세와의 단절의 공간으로 수용된 경우와 이상적 공간으로 수용된 경우, 그리고 풍류의 공간으로 수용된 경우 등으로 살펴보았으며 각각의 의미를 밝혀 보았다. 끝으로 시조에 나타난 '산'이 갖는 역할과 문학적 의미를 살펴보았는데 먼저 고대문학에 나타난 산의 의미가 변모되었다는 점과 산을 통해 인간의 본성을 담고 있다는 점, 그리고 산이 제재의 차원을 넘어 작자의 주제표출에 중심축을 이루고 있다는 점 등을 살펴볼 수 있었다. 이처럼 시조에 나타난 산은 작품의 배경이나 공간, 또는 자연관이나 산수의 의미 이상으로 작품 속에 수용되었다고 할 수 있다. 한편 이러한 산의 의미는 고전문학은 물론 현대문학에도 지속적으로 수용되고 있다는 점에서 앞으로 다각적인 관점에서 논의한다면 그 의미와 미의식은 더욱 선명하게 드러날 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

We have elucidated the meanings examining the types of acceptance aspects as well as analyses of work and authors in relation to 'mountains' in sijo. They are summarized as follows: First, we summarized works in which imagery of the 'mountain' in sijo appears. For sijo containing the 'mountain' there are total 936 pieces with short sijo 707 and long sijo 229. In addition, works for which authors are known are 502 pieces by 172 people. Other authors have 1~2 pieces. This allows us to understand that the base of authors ranges from kings and civil and military officials to poets and gisengs. On the other hand, it can be said that literary people are main writers in terms of a quantitative perspective. In addition, types of 'mountains' contained in sijo were divided into Korean and Chinese mountains, and ideal mountains and combined mountains. There are total 123 items and total frequency is 692 times. The most accepted mountain was 'green mountain (chongsan)' and the next was 'empty mountain (gongsan)'. As mentioned above, we could see that 'mountains' in ancient Korean sijo could be divided into diverse types. Second, we examined acceptance aspects of 'mountains' in sijo. First, the acceptance of historical meaning includes characters' birth and death, and historical events etc., and for intrinsic attributes, there are cases of pursuing attributes along with meanings of long time and water, and there are physical attributes of mountains etc. Finally, for acceptance of spatial meaning, there were cases of isolation from secular society and ideal space and there were cases that mountains were accepted as idyllic space etc. as we elucidated the meaning of each mountain in sijo. Finally, for the roles and meaning of imagery of 'mountains' in sijo, it can be said that first internal and external images were accepted in diverse fashion and that literary imagination was maximized and the like. Like this, the images of 'mountains' in sijo were accepted with significant roles and meaning for authors developing poetical imagination. It indicates that they were accepted for important materials, tools and effective theme expression in sijo literature with short form. Therefore, if more microscopic approach and studies are made in relation to imagery of 'mountains' in sijo in the future, we expect that meaning of mountains succeeded from ancient literature and literary visualization will be revealed.
