국문 초록

본 연구는 공감능력 개발을 위한 미술교육의 역할을 시각적 사고에 대한 논의를 중심으로 고찰해보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 시각적 사고의 개념을 구체적으로 기술하고, 이 시각적 사고의 개념이 공감능력과 어떤 관련이 있는지를 분석하였다. 그리고 이에 근거하여 미술교육이 구체적으로 공감능력을 개발하는데 어떤 역할을 할 수 있는지를 살펴보았다. 공감능력 개발을 위한 미술교육의 시각적 사고 기능은 다음과 같다. 첫째로 미술교육은 지각의 민감성을 증가시킨다. 둘째로, 미술교육은 체화된 인지를 강화하고, 행위 유발성을 증가시킨다. 셋째로, 미술교육은 대상의 개별적 특수성올 지각하도록 하고, 사물을 다양한 관점에서 상이하게 인식하도록 한다. 이를 통해 세상을 더욱 열린 마음으로 대하도록 하고, 타인의 견해에 대해서도 더욱 개방적이고 수용적이 될 수 있도록 한다. 미술교육에 대한 본 논의는 미술교육이 삶에서 마주하는 많은 현실적인 문제들을 다루는데 매우 중요한 역할을 할 수 있다는 것을 설득력 있게 보여 주고 있다. 그리고 이는 미술교육의 중요성을 부각시키는 데에도 크게 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

This study was to consider about roles of art education for development of empathic ability centered on discussion about visual thinking. For this. the perspective of visual thinking was written concretely. and relationship between perspective of visual thinking and emphatic ability was analyzed. Furthermore. based on this. the roles of art education for development of empathic ability was evaluated in detail. The roles of art education for development of empathic ability are as follow: first. art education stimulates sensitivity of perception. For development of empathic ability that understands feelings and emotions of others. one needs to recognize tiny difference toward the subject by others and to develop sensitivity of perception that allows different experiences toward the subject. Second. art education reinforces embodied cognition and stimulates induction of actions. Images in art education reinforces embodied knowledge by physical experiences through perception. Furthermore. this embodied knowledge is directly related to our minds. and it stimulates concrete behaviors more conveniently. Third. art education allows one to recognize individual specialty of the subject and to recognize the subject in various and different perspectives. Through this. it allows one to treat the world with more opened mind. and it also allows one to be more open-minded and comprehending toward others' opinions. The discussion about art education persuasively shows that art education takes very significant role in resolving many practical problems in people's lives. Moreover, this role is expected to be great contribution for giving prominence to significance of art education.
