국문 초록

이 논문은 레비나스의 타자철학에서 주요 개념들을 참조하여 황순원 시에 나타나는 타자의식의 내적인 동기와 의미를 살핀 것이다. 황순원의 시에서 생명과 아름다움을 향유하고자 하는 자존적 의지는 현실에서 횡행하는 폭력적인 힘의 질서에 대한 강한 부정과 대결의 방식으로 표출된다. 향유는 감성의 작용이며 주체의 개별적 경험과 감각의 독자성을 발현한다. 황순원은 주체에 대한 자각에서 시작하여 타자와의 관계를 근본적으로 성찰함으로써 근본적인 차원에서 타자에 대한 윤리를 수립할 수 있게 한다. 그는 향유와 거주라는 주체의 기본적인 욕망이 충족되지 않는 현실을 직시하고 그 안에서 살고 있는 약자들의 처지에 관심을 기울인다. 가난하고 고통에 찬 타자의 얼굴에서 자기중심적인 삶을 초월하는 윤리적 책무를 발견한다. 타자의 고통에 대해 타율적으로, 즉각적으로 반응하게 하는 윤리적 감성은 이해관계를 떠난 근본적인 책임의 의무와 연결된다. 타자의 고통과 상처에 대한 절실한 공감과 인류애적 책임의 윤리를 보여주는 황순원의 시는 우리 문학의 윤리의식을 대표할만하다. 그의 문학이 순수한 낭만성이나 서정성 못지않게 현실에 대한 선명한 자각과 비판을 드러내는 것은 타자의 고통에 대한 감성을 기반으로 공동체적 윤리에 대한 의식이 투철하기 때문이다. 타자의 고통에 감응하여 주체를 초월하고 인류애에 이르는 드높은 윤리의 차원에 있어 황순원 시는 각별한 성과와 의미를 보여준다.

영문 초록

I researched the inner motive and meaning of the other consciousness in Hwang Sun-won’s poems on reference to the important conceptions in Levinas’s the philosophy of the other. The point of Hwang Sun-won’s poems is pursuit of life and beauty. The poet’s will for attaining this purpose is expressed by strong negation about the violent power. His poem’s show the philosophical thought about subject which starts from self-examination to reflect on the relation with the other. This is more fundamental ethics about the other than existing humanism. The poet look straight the real world in which the basic desire related to enjoyment and residence is not satisfied. and display an interest the condition of the weak who live in it. He discovered the ethical duty that is transcend the egocentric life through a face of the other that is contorted by poverty and pain. The ethical sensibility that make a man response to the pain of the other completely and immediately is related to the sense of duty regardless of interests. His poem’s show clearly the fact that the effect of sensibility is how important and crucial than that of reason. Approaching to the pain of the other is related with the common ethics named love for all people. The poet confesses his best worry is next code of ethics, “Love your neighbor like your body.” His poems show the earnest sympathy about the pain of the other and ethics of duty for brotherhood. so it can represent level of the ethics in our literature.
