국문 초록

이 글에서는 당이 건국한 이후 7세기 전반동안 백제와 고구려·신라의 관계, 그리고 이 삼국관계와 밀접한 관련을 맺으며 움직이고 있는 백제와 당의 외교 내용을 다루었다. 두 편으로 나뉘어 대항하던 삼국의 관계는 6세기 후반을 거치는 동안 삼국 각축기로 들어섰다. 그리고 때마침 중국은 통일이 되었다. 수·당의 삼국관계에 대한 개입은 수·당의 의도가 존재하기도 했지만, 삼국의 적극적인 의지가 더 분명하였다. 백제는 이제 피할 수 없는 신라와의 대적에 전념하기 위하여, 수대에 이어 당과도 우호외교를 통해 고구려를 견제하는 정책을 지속시켜 나갔다. 백제와 당의 외교가 백제가 의도한 바대로 유지되었고, 백제의 신라 공격은 거침없이 진행되었다. 그리고 이 시기동안 백제와 고구려는 관계를 변화시킬만한 특별한 계기가 마련되지 못한 채 소강상태를 유지하고 있었으며, 양국 간의 관계 변화는 아직 시간이 더 필요했던 것으로 이해된다.

영문 초록

This thesis is about Baekje, Shilla, and Gogureyo’s relationship, and Baekje and Tang’s relationship which is very closely related to the three countries’ relationship in the early 7th century. The three countries’ relationship which had been confronted in two parts changed into the time when the three countries opposed individually. Sui and Tang’s nosing into the three countries’ relationship had a purpose for each country, but apparently, the three countries’ desire was stronger. Getting ready for the battle with Shilla which is inevitable, Baekje continued favorable relationship with Tang. Baekje constrained Gogureyo through the diplomatic relation with Tang. In the early Tang’s founding, Gogureyo had also made favorable diplomatic relations abroad, and Baekje and Tang’s relationship went well as Baekje intended and Baekje’s assault on Shilla was fluently progressed. Baekje and Gogureyo didn’t have a case that could change their relationships and still remained a lull in fighting, and it is assumed that to change the two countries’ relationships, they needed more time.
