로뜨만 구조 시학의 국내 수용 분석

국문 초록

예술 작품 분석 방법에는 다양한 분석 방법론이 존재한다. 그러한 다양한 방법론들 가운데 과거 국내에서는 주로 순수 문학적인 입장을 지향하는 경향이 지배적이었다. 그러한 가운데 1980년대 들어 서구의 기호학이 국내에 소개되기 시작하면서, 국문학 작품들에 대한 기호학적 분석 경향이 대두되기 시작하였고, 그러한 경향은 국문학 작품 분석에 있어서의 다양성과 유연성을 제공하였다. 그러한 기호학적 문학 작품 분석 방법을 통해 문학 작품의 구조에 대한 새로운 관심들이 나타나게는 되었으나, 실제 작품 분석에 있어서는 해당 분석 방법에 대한 피상적이고 개략적인 적용으로 인하여 어느 정도 한계를 드러내기도 하였다. 그러한 가운데 1990년대 들면서 국내에 다양한 기호학적 연구 경향의 도입과 더불어 로뜨만의 구조 시학 또한 국내에 소개되면서 문학 작품 분석에 활용되게 되었다. 그렇지만 로뜨만의 구조 시학은 그 방법론적 독창성에도 불구하고 기존의 기호학적 연구 방법론과 거의 동일하게 취급되었다. 로뜨만에게 있어서 예술 텍스트는 고도로 질서화된 체계이다. 따라서 문학 작품에 대한 정확한 이해를 위해서는 그 구조에 대한 정확한 이해가 필수적이다. 로뜨만은 그러한 예술 텍스트에 대한 정확한 분석과 이해를 위하여 형식주의의 문학 이론과 구조주의의 언어학적 연구방법론을 이용하고 있다. 그러면서 텍스트를 다층적으로 구분하여 각 층위별로 분석하고 있다. 이러한 로뜨만의 분석 방법론을 정확하게 이해하기 위해서는 원전에 대한 주의 깊은 독해와 분석이 필수적으로 요구되어 진다.그런데 국내에서 문학 작품들을 분석하며 인용하는 로뜨만의 이론과 연관된 부분들을 살펴보면 여러 문제점들을 발견할 수 있다. 즉, 로뜨만의 이론에 대한 깊은 이해 없이, 피상적인 어구의 인용에 의지하여 작품을 분석하는 경우를 다수 찾아볼 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 로뜨만의 문학작품 분석 방법론을 이용하여 국문학 작품을 분석하고 있는 다양한 논문들에서 나타나는 작품 분석 방법의 한계와 문제점을 지적함 더불어, 그것을 통하여 로뜨만의 이론에 기초한 올바른 문학작품 분석 방법이란 무엇인가를 알아보고자 한다. 그리고 그러한 분석을 통해 국내에서의 로뜨만의 구조 시학에 대한 이해 정도를 파악해 볼 것이며, 어떠한 점이 부족한가를 파악해볼 것이다.

영문 초록

This study addresses the Lotman's structural poetics and its application to korean artistic text. Language constitutes a material of the verbal art by its high degree of cognitive power, meta-linguistic function. And literary communication results from the conflict between primary and secondary modeling system of literary composition and their semiotic interaction. In connection with relationship between poetry and reality Lotman expressed that the poetic world is a model of the real world but is correlated with it in an exceedingly complex fashion. And the poetic text is a powerful and deeply dialectical mechanism of the search for truth, for understanding the surrounding world and our orientation in it. Then analysis on artistic text depend on accurate and consistent arguments. Lotman's theory of poetic language is based on the supposition that meaning arises not only from phonological oppositions, but from every kind of opposition that the devices of poetry can construct. And for the full understanding of literature Lotman employs the various linguistic methods in the text analysis. Nevertheless most of the korean literary works didn't take full advantage of Lotman's structural poetic theory. It is due to insufficiency of accurate understanding of the Lotman's theory or researcher's naive ignorance. The Lotman's literary works were translated into korean in the last 1980s - early 1990s. Because of defect of study through the korean translations, accurate understanding and application of the Lotman's theory fall into a difficult situation. Because structure of russian language is essentially different from korean. Especially, the principles of morphological poetic analysis, that Lotman showed marked prominence in analysis, do not apply to korean texts. Besides that, unsatisfactory researches were found. The causes of mistakes were subjective application of concepts, imperfect of understanding of the Lotman's theory and superficial and individual use of each concepts. But recently properly analysed works are on the increase.
