조선후기 서적 출판과 유통에 관한 일고찰

국문 초록

본고는 필자의 기발표 논문 ｢조선후기 중국 使行과 書冊 文化｣(2006)의 보완적 성격에 해당하는 논문으로 유만주(1755-1788)의 『欽英』과 황윤석(1729-1791)의 󰡔頤齋亂藁󰡕를 중심으로 조선후기 서적의 출판과 유통에 관한 몇 가지 새로운 자료를 제시해 본 것이다. 첫째, 조선과 중국 문인의 교류와 중국 내에서 조선 시문의 간행이다. 기발표고에서 언급하지 못하였던 주지번의 『奉使藁(附 東方和音)』와 이정귀의 󰡔월사별집(조천기행록)󰡕에 대해 보완하였으며, 서명응(1716-1787)이 1770년 燕京에서 자신의 저서 『易先天學』을 간행을 시도하였음을 소개하였다. 둘째, 『이재난고』를 통해 황윤석의 다양한 서적 입수 경로를 추적하고, 책값에 대해 논하였다. 아울러 책 거간꾼의 존재 양상도 보완하였다. 셋째, 1770년 한양 동촌 연지동에 거주했던 양반들에 의해 經書의 상업 출판(鐵活字 제작) 시도가 있었음을 소개하고, 아울러 이보다 앞선 1750년대에 중인층에 의해 漢陽에서 書店이 운영되었음을 언급하였다. 넷째, 조선에서의 官版本과 坊刻本의 특수한 양상에 대해서 논하였다. 다섯째,『이재난고』 및 『흠영』을 통해 王室의 小說 애호 자료를 검토해 보았다. 以上의 것들은 조선후기 출판 문화와 관련한 몇 가지 양상이다. 좀더 구체적인 자료 확충을 통해 18세기 以前 출판 문화와의 변별점, 나아가 明淸 및 日本 서적 문화와의 변별점들을 찾아 한중일 서적 문화의 차이들을 제시해 보는 것을 향후 과제로 삼고자 한다.

영문 초록

This study aims to supplement the author's previous study of focused on Yoo Man Joo(1755-1788)'s and Hwang Yoon Seok(1729-1791)'s . It suggests the following issues, reviewing new references on publication and distribution of books in the late Choseon Dynasty. First, there was interconnection between the writers of Choseon and China and publication of Choseon's poetry and prose in China. This study analyzes Joo Ji Beon's and Lee Jeong Gwi(1564-1635)'s . Also, it introduces written by Seo Myeong Woong(1716-1787) in Yeongyeong(燕京, Beijing) in 1770. Second, it traces the route that Hwang Yoon Seok acquired the wide range of books using the book, , as well as the prices of the them. Also, the aspects of book brokers are supplemented. Third, the study indicates that the Confucian classics are introduced by yangban classes via commercial publication(using iron type(鐵活字)), who lived in Yeonji-dong, Dongchon, Hanyang in 1770. The bookstore is operated by middle classes in Hanyang in the 1750s, earlier than the introduction of Confucian classics. Fourth, it discusses the special aspects of Gwanpanbon(block book published by government: 官版本) and Bankakbon(Commercial book: 坊刻本). Fifth, the royal family's favorite novels are reviewed on the base of and . The above aspects are related to the book culture of the late Choseon Dynasty. Further study is necessary to distinguish them from those of the earlier ages than 18th century, and from those of Myeongcheong Dynasty using more resources for detailed investigation. This process will enable us to suggest the distinction between book cultures of Korea, China and Japan.
