국문 초록

본고는 조선시대 일기자료의 전체적 현황을 간단하게 소개하고, 현존하는 일기자료의 전체적 흐름 속에서 『추연선생일기』가 구체적으로 어떤 특징과 가치를 지닐 수 있는지 검토해 보았다. 조선시대 일기자료는 대략 1600여 종 정도 남아 있었다. 작성 주체는 대부분 개인이었지만, 중앙관청과 지방관청 및 공동체 일기도 일부 확인할 수 있었다. 작성 시기는 14세기부터였고, 16세기부터 중요한 일기가 본격적으로 등장하였기 시작하였으며, 19세기에 일기 작성이 가장 왕성하였다. 기록 내용은 관청의 운영 상황부터 개인의 체험 및 집안의 몇 대에 걸친 종합일기까지 참으로 다양하였다. 『추연선생일기』는 조선시대 일기자료 가운데 벼슬살이와 관련된 사환일기의 성격과 개인 생활일기의 특징을 함께 갖추고 있었다. 그리고 시기적으로 조선전기에 작성된 것일 뿐만 아니라 동서분당 초기의 미묘한 상황을 기록한 것이란 점에 일차적으로 중요한 가치가 있었다. 기록 내용에 있어서는 다른 곳에서 확인하기 어려운 다양한 개인정보와 중요문서 및 그 당시 정치상황에 직결된 처분 내용ㅇ르 다수 포함하고 있다는 점이 특별히 주목되었으며, 이 때문에 개인의 사적 기록에 그치지 않고 광범위한 독자층을 확보하였다는 점도 보통 일기와 구별되는 특징으로 생각되었다.

영문 초록

This paper introduced the overall status of diary material of Joseon period in brief and examined what kinds of values and characteristics does 「Chuㆍyeonㆍseonㆍsaengㆍilㆍgi」 have in the general current of exiting diary material. More than 1,600 Joseon period diaries are left now. Most of writers are individuals while some of diaries were written by central government offices, local government offices and communities. They were written from the 14th century. Diaries of importance had appeared from the 16th century and the 19th century saw the peak time of diary writing. The contents are very diverse including individual experiences, operation conditions of government office and family diary over several generations. 「Chuㆍyeonㆍseonㆍsaengㆍilㆍgi」 has the characteristics of private living diary as well as official life diary. As for the time, it has a significant value in that it was written in the early Joseon and recorded the subtle political situations in the early stage of Dong-Seo party split. As for the contents, it is worth noticing specially in that it includes various private information and important document and the proceedings directly linked to political situations of those days, which are rarely found in other diaries. Therefore, 「Chuㆍyeonㆍseonㆍsaengㆍilㆍgi」 won wide range of reader groups, not remaining as a mere individual recording. It could be another distinction from common diaries.
