근대 패설의 흐름과 李明善의『이야기』

국문 초록

  이 글은 20세기초 패설의 흐름을 살펴보고, 그 흐름에서 차지하는 이명선의『영화촌경』·『이야기』의 위상을 찾아보려는 데에 목적을 두었다.
  1910년대 패설은 小說 혹은 俚言이라는 말로 당시 세태에 대한 흐름을 읽어냈다. 1920년대에는 이들이 ‘笑話’로 귀착된다. 그런데 이 소화는 다시 연설조의 ‘才談’을 만들어냈다. 상업과 통속적인 형태로 흐르는 패설의 흐름은 사회 일반적이었다. 그렇지만 여전히 한켠에서는 필사의 형태로 전대의 패설을 향유하기도 했다. 그것은 과거를 통해 자기 정체성을 찾아가기 위한 활로였다.
  이명선은 1930년대 ？？영화촌경？？과『이야기』를 쓴다. 이들은 당시 지식인이 지녔던 패설 향유의 일단을 잘 드러낸다.『영화촌경』은 당시 ‘교양’의 차원에서 쓰여진 것이지만, 그 이면에는 당시 활자본으로 향유되던 패설의 글쓰기 방식을 따른다.『이야기』는『영화촌경』과 달리 당시를 살아갔던 지식인들의 좌절을 잘 드러낸 작품이 다수 보인다. 웃음까지도 한없는 슬픔으로 이끌어야 했던 당시 지식인들의 단면이『이야기』에는 숨겨져 있었던 것이다.

영문 초록

  This thesis aims to research the stream of Paeseol at 20th century, and the meaning of the『Yiyagi』and the『Yongwhachongyong』written by Myungseon Lee.
  Generally, the induction of laughing by descriptions of social contradictions is in fashion as the method of writing in the late 19th century. This methodkept up the late 1920"s. The method of writing in 1910"s are picturing of our social life and leaving additional remarks on it. These stories were called as "soseol"[小說] or "lieon"[俚言] in the newspapers or magazines, but in books "laughing" was set up as titles. In 1920"s the title of "soseol"[小說] or "lieon"[俚言] were changed into "sowha"[笑話] or "Jaedam"[才談]. At that times, sowha meant humor, and Jaedam was a kind of essay. In 1930"s, sowha was a sort of yellow-covered literature. And the intellectual did not published but transcribed all kinds of "sowha". for example the copy of『Gimun』by Kim, Taejun.
  The『Yiyagi』and the『Yongwhachongyong』mainly followed the stream of Paeseol at 20th century, but partly changed by themselves. The later followed picturing of our social life as the method of writing, and the former shows complex characters of Paeseol in 1920"s.
