영산강 중ㆍ상류지역 구석기시대의 문화적 성격 연구

국문 초록

  영산강 중상류지역에서 갱신세에 형성된 지층은 주로 고토양이다. 이 지층에 대한 화산재분석, 단구분석 및 OSL 연대측정 결과 이 지역 고토양의 연대는 12,000-125,000년 전에 형성된 것으로 확인되었다. 당가 유적 2문화층의 절대연대를 기준으로 이 지역은 크게 세 시기로 나뉘는데 당가 제1문화층은 70-80kyr, 제2문화층은 절대연대를 바탕으로 40-50kyr, 제 3문화층은 30kyr로 추정하고 있다. 이 편년 자료는 화순 사창 다층위 유적과 상대편년을 설정할 수 있을 것으로 추정된다. 촌곡유적과 사창유적의 화산재분석 결과 이 유적의 첫 번째 토양쐐기 아래층의 상단부에서 AT화산재가 확인되었다.
  이 연구는 영산강 중상류유역에 대한 정밀한 지표조사결과와 발굴결과를 망라하여 그 분포권을 확인하고 그 문화적 성격을 설명하고자 하였다. 지금까지 발굴된 유적 6지점을 포함하여 모두 36지점의 구석기시대 유적이 확인되었다. 그들 중 대부분은 영산강유역의 지류인 지석강의 양 안에서 확인되었다. 일반적으로 이 지역에서 확인된 석기들은 대부분 ‘동북아시아의 자갈돌 석기전통’과 연관된 특징을 갖고 있다. 결론적으로, 영산강 중상류 유역에서 첫 번째 인류는 중기구석기시대에 처음 정착하였고(당가 제1문화층, 치평동유적), 그 다음은 중기-후기 과도기에 폭넓게 그 흔적(당가 제2문화층, 도산, 사창유적 최하층)을 남겼다(40-50 kyr). 후기구 석기시대에 진입하여 석기문화는 돌날떼기의 시도가 보이는 석기를 포함한 격지석기전통(잔손질된 격지석기류 증가), 양면박리기법의 확산 등 다양한 새로운 석기제작기술이 시도된 특징을 보인다(당가 제1문화층, 촌곡, 사창 제2문화층)(40-30kyr). 끝으로, 영산강유역에서 처음으로 확인된 고전적인 후기구석기시대유적이 확인되었는데 세형돌날문화를 대표하는 석기문화가 확인되었다(사창유적 최상층).

영문 초록

  The formation made in Pleistocene in the area of Middle and Upper Youngsan river region is found mainly paleosols. It is found through analysis of volcanic ash, terrace and OSL age measurement that the age of paleosol is 12,000-125,000 years ago. As the result of the absolute dating of the second cultural layer of Dangga site(middle of Jiseok river), this region has three cultural layer, lst layer is dated by 70-80kyr., 2nd layer -40-50kyr., and 3rd layer -30kyr. These chronological data is closely related with Whasun Sachang site. According to the analysis of volcanic ash for Chongok and Sachang site, AT tephra is located in the uppermost part of the layers under the first soil wedge.
  This research represent distribution of Paleolithic sites in Middle and Upper Youngsan river basin. There are 36 Paleolithic sites with six excavated sites. Most of all of them are located in the both side of terraces in the Jiseok river. General techno-typological character belongs to the "Pebble Tool Tradition in Northeast Asia". Conclusionally, we can construct the chronology of the Youngsan river region. First peopling of this river came to the Middle Paleolithic period(70-80kyr), such as 1 cultural layer of Dangga and Chipyengdong site with heavy weight tools. The second is related with the transition period of the Middle to Upper Paleolithic, such as the 2nd layer of Dangga, Dosan and lowest layer Sachang site(40-50kyr.). Third peopling is migrated to the river about 30kyr.(3rd cultural layer of Dangga, 2nd layer of Sachang site and Chongok site). The techno-typological character of stone tool represented the flake tool tradition with the trial of the blade tool technique(increase of flake tools with delicate retouch) and widely spread bifacial technique. Finally, Paleolithic people came to this region in the late Upper Paleolithic in the uppermost cultural layer in Sachang site with the microblade culture.
