국문 초록

  한국의 미술교육에서 고등교육에 관한 논의는 질적·양적으로 매우 부족하다. 특히 대학의 회화과에 관한 논의는 매우 드물며 그동안 기초조사 없는 피상적인 논의의 성격이 강했다. 따라서 본 연구는 구체적인 자료 수집과 분석으로 논의의 근거를 제시하고자 하였다. 이에 먼저 회화과의 설립과정을 개괄한 후 현재 회화과를 설치하고 있는 각 대학의 2005학년도 교육과정을 바탕으로 교육목표, 학점 구성, 교과목 편성 구조를 알아보았다. 연구 결과 해방 이후 시작된 한국의 대학미술교육은 근대화 과정에서 보편적 합의를 이루지 못한 학과명의 사용으로 인한 학과 개념의 혼란과, 특성 없이 천편일률적인 교육목표와 교과목 구성 등의 쟁점을 도출하였으며, 해외의 유수한 미술학교의 사례를 통해 시사점을 살펴보았다.

영문 초록

  Previous studies of visual arts education at the university level in Korea were sufficient neither in quality nor quantity and not supported by basic research. This paper have therefore examined to understand the current state of the collective educational programs in visual arts departments through an analysis of the credit-distribution ratios as well as the course arrangements present in the curriculum. Preceding an in-depth discussion of these questions, the current state of visual-arts departments in Korea is addressed by way of an examination of their development. Analyses of these curricula are presented in three sections: educational goals, minimum credit requirements for graduating majors, and course arrangement. Cases from ten different colleges in United States and Japan are utilized in these analyses. This research has yielded the following conclusions: the confusion of definitions among majors, the educational goals and course arrangements that are not reflect the philosophy of each universities and monotonous, and others.
