미술학습 능력 검사 도구로서 DTVP 활용 가능성에 대한 연구

국문 초록

  만4세~9세에 해당되는 아동들은 다른 어느 연령에서보다 극적인 성장을 이루는 시기로서, 이 시기의 미술교육은 아동의 발달과 긍정적인 영향관계를 맺고 있다.1) 그러나 아동들의 각기 다른 인지적, 정서적, 감각 통합적, 조형적 발달 수준을 정확하게 진단하는 것이 쉽지 않고, 이를 측정할 체계적이고도 현실적인 도구가 없는 실정이다. 본 연구는 아동의 발달에 기여하는 미술교육을 위해서는 이러한 아동의 개인차와 특성을 측정하는 것이 우선이며, 이를 위한 검사 도구 개발이 필요하다는 관점에서 시도된 것이다. 검사 개발에 기본적 이론과 틀은 감각통합이론(Sensory Integration Theory)과 임상 치료분야에서 널리 활용되고 있는 시지각 발달 검사도구인 DTVP(Developmental Test of Visual Perception)를 기본 모델로 하였다. 본 연구를 통해 DTVP는 아동의 시지각에 관한 발달 정도뿐만 아니라 아동의 인지적, 정서적, 신체운동적 측면에 관한 정보를 제공하며, 이는 아동에게 성공적인 미술교육을 제공할 수 있음을 확인하였다. DTVP 검사의 항목들 가운데 본 연구에서 미술 교육적 활용 가능성을 확인한 것으로서는 "눈-손 협응", "전경-배경의 지각", "따라 그리기" 항목들이다. 첫째, "눈-손 협응" 항목에서 나타난 지수는 신체 운동적 측면에서 아동의 상태 및 아동의 그림 표현에 있어서 형태 완결성과 선의 일관성과 유의한 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, "전경-배경의 지각" 항목은 산만하거나 주의집중이 부족한 아동의 원인에 대한 정보를 제공함으로써 이 항목의 결과에 근거한 미술환경을 제공했을 때 보다 효율적이고 즐거운 수업이 진행될 수 있었다. 셋째, "따라 그리기" 항목에서는 도형을 지각하는 아동의 발달 정도를 추측할 수 있는 것으로 특히 도형이 구성되어 있는 부분과 전체의 관계, 입체 인식에 관한 개인적 특성을 제공하였다. 이러한 DTVP 검사의 항목들은 미술학습 능력 검사도구 개발에 유의하게 활용될 수 있을 것이며, 앞으로 이와 관련된 본격적이고 체계적인 연구가 진행되어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

  The fourth through ninth years are a critical period of development and art education should play a positive role on child"s development. We, however, don"t have a tool which identifies their readiness for art education and their personal traits.   This research is a challenging trial to investigate the feasibility that DTVP(Developmental Test of Visual Perception, 1993) might be adopted to art education for children, especially to know the level of their readiness. Through the research, I could confirm that DTVP test gives useful information for the developmental stages of visual perception, cognitive, emotional and motor-coordination as well as child"s strength and weakness as follows;   "Eye-hand coordination" can be interpreted as being related to form closure and line consistency. These two elements are crucial for completion level of art work. "Figure-ground" can be interpreted as information for child who has a lack of attention, or who has tendency of hyper activity. Low quotient of this item means that they might be vulnerable to visual stimulations and its quantity. In this case, visual stimulations such as materials, tools and methods should be carefully restricted. "Copy" is about child"s cognition of geometry and exact recognition of object"s trait. As far as art education is concerned, "copy" can be interpreted as whether child perceives the relationship of the whole-part, and three dimensionality. Therefore, I could discover the feasibility of adopting DTVP to art education for children, it deserves to push the research further.
