영문 초록

The civilian massacre in Geochang was the national violence which was committed at the process of the nation-state formulation in the Korean War period. This study seeks to survey the logic of testimony poetry, focusing on the Sin, Jung-Sin's Debasement and Kim, Tae-Su's Azalea of that Valley which poetized the civilian massacre in Geochang by exposing the falsehood of the massacre discourse which enforced the forgetfulness and silence of memory. The discussed contents are as the followings. First, the thing which the existing genocide discourse internalized by the sight of the nation actively advocated was the logic of silence. The testimony poetry which treats the civilian massacre in Geochang collapse the nation-centered discourse, derive the reconsideration for reviewing history and re-thinking the standardized public discourse, and furthermore intend to combine the witness with the public horizontally, by harmonizing the voice of the witness, the recorded factors, and the utterance of poets. From this point of view, Sin, Jung-Sin's Debasement and Kim, Tae-Su's Azalea of that Valley have the common feature of resistance literature which take the public subject. Second, in the testimony poetry, the testimony and recorded factors are the strong devices to derive the spot and persuasion, but the description way takes evident differences. In Sin, Jung-Sin's Debasement, the subtitle of which is 'the spot testimony of concealed history of the people', the lyricism based on the writer's imagination, and the excessive desire of testimony and furious statements coexist. The reason why the fury of testimony is salient is that the writer focuses on the transmission contents and recovery of concealed memory. On the other hand, Kim, Tae-Su's Azalea of that Valley rather maximizes the tragic sentiment by dissolving the memory of genocide in lyricism. To that extent, Kim, Tae-Su's testimony poetry harmonize the testimony and literary formulation properly. Third, the testimony poetry which treat the civilian massacre in Geochang constantly urge the regaining the impaired reputation and reasonable valuation from the viewpoint of the massacred civilian, rather than the nation. Therefore, the testimony poetry have the valuable meaning of practicing discourses to establish the human right and realize the social justice by revealing the violence of the state power. Also, the literary configuration of the civilian massacre imposes the logic of the responsibility upon the contemporary people who live the same historic era. Above all, the fidelity of the testimony makes the public reflect upon the averted reality because of not being the person concerned and recover the concealed history by convincing the contemporary people. As known broadly, the civilian massacre in the Korean War which has been called as "not known war" is extensive and also the wound of the tragedy is enormous. This study treats the civilian massacre in Geochang, focusing on the testimony poetry, but in the future, it's necessary that the research objects be extended. Especially, to research the concerned subject, including poetry and adjacent branches, such as novels, dramas, memoranda, reports, or nonfictions, and documentaries is essential. And the period and range should be expanded from the small area in Geochang to the civilian massacre which was committed in the Restoration and Korean War period. The unique feature of literary discourse which treats the civilian massacre in Geochang can be surveyed by investigating the difference of configuration and meanings shown from the various branches. Through this wide frame, that is 'literature and violence', the following studies can broadly survey the literary achievements of Kyungja Civilian Movement and Gwangju Democratization Struggle, as well as the civilian massacre in wartime.
