국문 초록

본 연구는 교육에서의 디지털 전환이라는 시대적 상황 속에서 AI 기술을 적극적으로 활용하여 미술교육을 실행할 때, 미술교사가 경험하는 역할의 변화를 심층적으로 이해하는 데 목적이 있다. 이에 AI를 중심으로 수업을 설계하고, 집중적으로 미술 창작 수업을 실행하는 미술 영재교육 현장에서 수업을 담당하는 다양한 실행 주체의 경험을 세밀하게 포착하여 심층적으로 분석하고자 하였다. 먼저 AI 시대 미술교육과 미술교사의 역할 변화를 이론적으로 고찰하고, 미술교사 4인을 대상으로 한 포커스 그룹 인터뷰(Focus Group Interview)를 분석하여 AI 시대에 미술교사만이 할 수 있는 고유한 역할에 관한 담론을 형성하고자 하였다. 연구 결과, AI 시대에 미술교사의 고유한 역할에 대하여 ‘잠깐 멈추게 하기’, ‘질문 던지기’, ‘차이를 존중하고 맞춰가기’ 크게 3가지로 정리할 수 있었다. 이를 통해 시대적 맥락에 비추어 미술교사의 역할을 다시금 고민해 볼 수 있었으며, 불확실한 미래 사회 속에서 미술교사가 수행할 수 있는 의미 있는 역할과 전문성을 모색할 수 있었다. 본 연구의 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 새로운 형태의 수업을 창의적으로 수행하는 과정에서 오히려 미술교사로서의 정체성이 재고될 수 있다. 이는 미술교사로서 스스로에게 던지는 본질적 물음에서부터 출발하였으며, AI 시대에서 미술교사만이 할 수 있는 역할과 전문성에 대해 다시금 확인해 가는 계기가 될 수 있어 보인다. 둘째, AI가 가져오는 교육환경의 변화 속에서도 미술교사의 고유한 역할은 변하지 않으며, 오히려 더욱 복잡하고 다차원적인 형태로 진화하고 있다. 교사의 역할은 기술의 발전과 변화 속에서도 여전히 교육의 중심에 있기 때문에, AI 시대의 미술교사로서 무엇을 고민하고 어떻게 역할을 수행해 나갈 것인지에 대한 지속적인 논의가 필요하다.

영문 초록

This study aims to deeply understand the transformation of art teachers' roles when actively utilizing AI technologies in art education within the context of the digital transition in education. By designing AI-centered lessons and conducting art creation sessions in gifted art education settings, the research seeks to capture and analyze the nuanced experiences of various practitioners involved in these classes. The study first theoretically examines the changes in art education and the roles of art teachers in the age of AI. It then analyzes a Focus Group Interview (FGI) with four art teachers to construct a discourse on the unique roles that only art teachers can fulfill in this age. The study identified three roles unique from art teachers in the age of AI: ‘facilitating moments of pause’, ‘posing questions’, and ‘respecting and adapting to differences’. This allowed for a reconsideration of the roles of art teachers within the context of the times, facilitating an exploration of the meaningful roles and professional expertise that art teachers can bring to an uncertain future society. The study has several implications. First, the process of creatively implementing new forms of lessons can lead to a reconsideration of art teachers' professional identity. This stems from fundamental questions about their essence as educators and provides an opportunity to reaffirm the unique roles and expertise of art teachers in the age of AI. Second, despite the transformative changes in educational environments brought about by AI, the intrinsic roles of art teachers remain constant and are evolving into more complex and multidimensional forms. As the role of teachers remains central to education amidst technological advancements, there is a need for ongoing discussions on how art teachers can reflect on and fulfill their roles in the age of AI.
