국문 초록

본 연구는 학령기 다문화 아동의 자아존중감 변화궤적과 사회적 지지(부모, 또래, 교사)가 학교생활 적응에 미치는 영향을 종단적으로 분석하였다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원의 다문화청소년패널조사(MAPS) 2기 1 ~ 3차년도 자료를 활용하여, 초등학교 4 ~ 6학년 아동 2,271명의 데이터 를 잠재성장모형과 구조방정식모형으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학교 4 ~ 6학년 기간 동안 다문화 아동의 자아존중감은 유의하게 감소하는 선형 모형으로 나타났으며, 자아존중감의 초기치와 변화율에 개인차가 있었다. 둘째, 초등학교 4학년 시기의 사회적 지지(부모, 또래, 교사)는 자아존중감 초기치와 변화율에 모두 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 4학년부터 6학년까지 자아존중감의 변화율과 4학년 시기의 사회적 지지(부모, 또래, 교사)는 6학년 시기의 학교생활적응에 유의한 영향을 주었다. 본 연구는 고학년으로 접어드는 다문화 아동의 자아존중감 발달과 학교적응을 돕기 위해 부모, 또래 및 교사의 지지가 중요한 보호 요인임을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 다문화 아동의 심리적 안정과 학교적응을 위한 구체적인 지원 방안을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The study aims to investigate the trajectory of self-esteem and the longitudinal pathways between self-esteem trajectories, social support (from parents, peers, and teachers), and school life adaptation in multicultural children. This study utilized data from the 1st to 3rd waves of the Multicultural Youth Panel Survey (MAPS 2nd) involving 2,271 elementary school children. Data were analyzed using latent growth modeling (LGM) and structural equation modeling (SEM). The major findings were as follows: First, from fourth to sixth grade, the trajectory of self-esteem among multicultural children decreased linearly over time, with significant individual differences in the intercept and slope of self-esteem. Second, in the fourth grade, social support from parents, peers, and teachers significantly affected the trajectory of self-esteem. Third, both the slope of self-esteem and social support significantly influenced school life adaptation in the sixth grade. These results suggest that supportive social relationships are crucial protective factors for the development of self-esteem in multicultural children. For future interventions targeting low self-esteem, it is essential to foster supportive relationships with parents, peers, and teachers, and to promote positive emotional experiences during late childhood.
