영역 일반성 대 영역 한정성 논의와 그 교육적 함의

국문 초록

이 글은 영역 일반성 대 영역 한정성(domain generality versus domain specificity; DG vs. DS)의 개념을 이론적으로 명확히 하면서 DG-DS 논쟁의 중요한 주제 ‘전문성(expertise)’과 ‘인간 발달’의 성격을 요약하고 논의한다(Frensch & Buchner, 1999). 그리고 영역 한정적인 지식이나 전략과 내용 지식이 어떻게 인간 학습이나 수행에 상호 작용하는지를 고찰한다. 또, 직간접적으로 영역 한정적 그리고 전략적 지식의 상호작용에 관련된 연구를 종합하면서 교수 학습 과정이나 방법을 위한 시사점을 도출 하였다. 마지막으로, 연구 절차나 방법론이라는 관점에서 기존 연구들의 제한점을 지적하였으며 연구의 종합과 문헌 비판으로부터 얻어진 지식에 기초하여 미래 연구에 대한 방향 제시를 하였다.

영문 초록

In this literature review, this paper sought to achieve three purposes. First, it tried to clarify the conceptual differences of domain specificity and domain generality. Secondly, it did to provide an informative synthesis of the research that has addressed either, directly or indirectly, the development of expertise and human development in terms of domain generality vs. domain specificity and the interaction of domain-specific and strategic knowledge, Thirdly, building upon the knowledge gained from the synthesis and critique of the literature, the author wished to offer guidelines that might direct future research efforts. considering the powerful influence research in domain-specific and strategic knowledge has separately exerted upon educational theory and practice, it seems imperative to bring these bodies of research together. Indeed, the author heartily agree with Sternberg's(1985) assertion that the time has come "to consider the ways in which knowledge and process interact". To continue to pursue a singular course in our attempts to understand academic learning may prove costly or ill advised.
