국문 초록

본 연구는 국제박물관협의회의 문화유산 공식 온톨로지인 CIDOC Conceptual Reference Model과 확장을 분석하고, 사례를 적용한다. 문화유산 온톨로지는 기관 간의 정보 교류를 위해 상호운용성(interoperability)이 보장되어야 하며, 다양한 유형과 상황을 기술할 수 있어야 한다. 왜냐하면 문화유산의 정보는 유물의 상태를 지칭하는 것뿐만 아니라, 유물과 연관된 사건, 인물, 건축물 등을 포함하고 있기 때문이다. 국제박물관협의회는 문화유산 온톨로지인 CIDOC CRM을 개발하였고, 2006년에 ISO 21127로 공식화하였다. 그러나 문화유산을 중심으로 진행되는 다양한 상황을 기술하기 위해서 개선이 진행되고 있으며, 2022년 현재 CIDOC CRM과 호환할 수 있거나 공동작업이 이루어진 온톨로지는 총 11개이다. 따라서, 본고는 CIDOC CRM의 발전을 소개하며, 확장된 온톨로지를 분석한다. 이는 CIDOC CRM의 기술 가능한 범위와 적용 가능성을 확인할 수 있으며, 향후에 다양한 형태의 문화유산을 하나의 체계로 기술할 수 있는 통합 문화유산 온톨로지 구축의 기초 연구로서 의의가 있다. 그리고 한국전통문화대학교박물관 사례에 CIDOC CRM을 적용하여 국제화와 정보 교류 가능성을 확인하고, 현재 CIDOC CRM이 가지고 있는 제한점을 분석하였다.

영문 초록

This study analyses the CIDOC Conceptual Reference Model, the official heritage ontology of the International Council of Museums, and its extensions, and applies it to cases. The ontology in the heritage field should ensure interoperability for information exchange between institutions and should be able to describe various types and situations. The reason is that heritage information not only refers to the status quo of the artefact, but also includes events, people, and buildings related to the artefact. The International Council of Museums has developed the CIDOC CRM, an official heritage ontology, and it was recognised as ISO 21127 in 2006. However, improvements have been made to describe various situations associated with heritage, and as of 2022, there are a total of 11 ontologies that are compatible with CIDOC CRM or have collaborated with it. Therefore, this paper introduces the development of the CIDOC CRM and analyses its expansions. It can confirm the scope and applicability of the CIDOC CRM, and it is significant as fundamental research for building an integrated heritage ontology that can describe various types of heritage as one system in the future. In addition, this paper applied the CIDOC CRM to the case of the Korean National University Museum of Cultural Heritage, estimated the possibility of its internationalisation and information exchange, and analysed the limitations of the current CIDOC CRM.
