국문 초록

연구목적: 본 연구는 유아교사의 교수행위로서 사진을 새롭게 이해하기 위하여 사진의 역사적 맥락과 특성을 고찰하고, 유아교육에서 사진의 존재론적 확장 가능성을 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 연구방법: 이를 위해 롤랑 바르트의 ‘밝은 방’과 필립 뒤바의 ‘사진적 행위’를 고찰하고, 사진의 다양한 관점을 토대로 유아교육에서 활용하는 사진의 새로운 가능성에 대한 시사점을 도출하였다. 연구결과: 첫째, 유아교육현장에서 사진의 존재읽기를 통해 새로운 의미를 생성할 수 있는 비주얼 리터러시가 요구된다. 비주얼 리터러시는 사진에 이미 내재된 존재읽기를 통해 소통의 장을 열어줌으로써, 사진의 결과만을 읽는 인식론적 한계를 극복하고 실재의 흔적을 생성하는 존재론적 확장으로 나아가게 하는 것이다. 둘째, 유아교육연구에서 사진을 통한 새로운 연구방법을 모색하기 위해 다변화적 관점으로 사진을 읽을 수 있어야 한다. 연구 자료로써 사진은 단순한 결과의 닮음이 아니라 사진 속 대상의 존재론적 상황을 제시하는 것으로, 관점에 따라 다르게 이해될 수 있다는 점을 받아들임으로써 열린 텍스트로 나아갈 수 있다. 논의 및 결론: 본 연구는 사진이 존재의 흔적을 불러일으키는 실재성을 가진다는 새로운 시각을 바탕으로 유아교육에서 사진을 다양한 관점으로 이해하기 위한 가능성을 제안하고 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This study aims to explore not only the historical context and characteristics of photography but also the ontological expansion possibility of photography in early childhood education. Method: To this end, we review Roland Barthes’s ‘Ia chambre claire’ and Philippe Dubois’s ‘L’acte photographique’, and draw the implication for new possibilities for photography in early childhood education. Results: First, this study points out visual literacy that creates new meanings through reading the existence of photographs in the field of early childhood education. Visual literacy can overcome epistemological limitations of reading only the results of photos, and it thus can move toward an ontological expansion that creates traces of reality, by opening a field of communication through reading the presence already inherent in photos. Second, early childhood education researchers must try to read photographs from a diversified perspective to explore new research methods through photographs. Photographs as research data are not simple resemblances of the results. That is to present the ontological situation of the object in the photo. It is also to move on to an open text by accepting that it can be understood differently depending on the points of view. Conclusion: This study proposes the possibility to read and understand the various perspectives of photographs in early childhood education, through the viewpoint of photos as the reality that evokes traces of existence.
