국문 초록

연구목적: 이 연구는 해방 이후 오늘에 이르기까지 국가교육의 기본틀이라고 할 수 있는 국가교육과정 체제가 거두었던 성과와 남긴 과제 그리고 새로운 도전에 대한 대응 방안을 알아보는 데 목적을 두었다. 연구방법: 연구의 목적 달성을 위하여 1차부터 2015 개정에 이르기까지의 국가교육과정 문서를 분석하고 국가교육과정과 관련하여 학술지에 게재된 논문과 학위 논문에 대한 광범위한 문헌 조사를 하였다. 연구결과: 국가교육과정 체제는 공통 교과와 학습내용 그리고 교과서 제도를 통하여 기본학력을 제고하고, 국민의 사회적·문화적 통합에 기여하며, 지역과 학교의 교육격차를 줄이는 긍정적인 효과를 거두었다. 하지만 학생의 소질과 능력에 탄력적으로 대응하지 못하고, 지역과 학교의 주체성과 자율성 신장을 방해하였다. 논의 및 결론: 앞으로 국가교육과정 체제는 교육의 기본 방향과 핵심 내용을 제시하되, 학교의 자율성을 살리고 교사가 전문성을 발휘할 수 있도록 필수 내용과 유연한 구조로 구성될 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study were to investigate the profitable results and the assignments which national curriculum system has given and to come up with an effective counterplan to educational situation change. Method: the method of this study was to analyze the national curriculum documents and review the articles in educational journals and masters and doctoral thesis. Results: the national curriculum system has improved the scholastic achievement, has promoted social and cultural unity of the people, and has narrowed educational gaps between rich and poor children. But it has not responded to the aptitudes and abilities of the students and has restricted the autonomy of the schools. Conclusion: the national curriculum system of the future is to be made up of essential contents and flexible structure to guarantee the school autonomy and teachers professionalism.
