국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 저소득가정 아동을 대상으로 한 멘토링 프로그램이 아동의 학습동기 및 자아존중감에 미치는 영향을 검토하는데 있다. 이에 본 연구는 빈곤상황에 처한 아동을 대상으로 이들의 학습동기 및 자아존중감 향상을 위해 6개월 간 멘토링 프로그램을 실시하였다. 멘토링 프로그램에 참여한 아동은 초등학교 1-6학년에 재학 중인 저소득가정 아동 193명이다. 프로그램 사전·사후 검사를 통해 프로그램의 효과성을 분석한 결과, 멘토링 프로그램은 저소득가정 아동의 학습동기와 자아존중감 향상에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 결론에서는 연구결과를 토대로 실천적 함의를 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The Purpose of this study was to empirically investigate the effectiveness of mentoring programs as an intervention strategy for children in poverty. In particular it focused on the effectiveness of mentoring programs in learning motivation and self-esteem improvement of poor children. Mentoring programs were run for seven months. The study examined the effectiveness of the mentoring programs on 193 mentees by a paired samples t-test. The results were that the mentoring programs had a positive effect on the learning motivation and self-esteem of children in poverty. On the basis of these findings, this study recommends mentoring programs as an effective practical strategy to improve the learning motivation and self-esteem of children in poverty.
