국문 초록

이 글은 칸트 철학에서 하나님 나라(Reich Gottes)의 의미에 대해 추적한다. 이를 위해 우리는 『순수이성비판』과 『실천이성비판』, 『이성의 한계 안에서의 종교』에서 하나님 나라의 의미가 어떤 식으로 드러나며, 또 발전해 왔는지를 추적할 것이다. 이를 위해 우리는 칸트가 일반계시의 차원에서, 특히 유한한 인간 이성의 한계 안에서 하나님 나라를 추적했다는 사실을 전제할 것이다. 왜냐하면 일반계시의 차원에서 전개된 칸트의 하나님 나라 개념이 특별계시의 영역에서 연구된 하나님 나라 개념과 결코 동일시될 수는 없기 때문이다. 따라서 우리에게 중요한 것은 칸트가 성경과 하나님 나라를 정말로 믿고 신앙했는지의 여부를 밝히는 것이 아니다. 오히려 칸트의 하나님 나라 개념이 일반계시의 차원에서 제시되었음에도 불구하고, 얼마나 전통신학의 맥락과 유사하며, 또 어떤 점에서 차이가 있는지를 드러내는 것이다. 이 점에서 우리는 칸트의 원문 텍스트들 중 『순수이성비판』과 『실천이성비판』, 『이성의 한계 안에서의 종교』를 분석하여 하나님 나라의 의미가 어떻게 제시되고 변천하는지를 추적할 것이다. 먼저, 『순수이성비판』에서 칸트는 하나님 나라가 지성적인 도덕세계이자 우리를 위한 내세로서 “이미” 우리에게 주어져 있다고 설명한다. 왜냐하면 이러한 지성적인 도덕세계는 하나님께서 창조하시고 통치하시는 세계로서 이미 도덕적으로 완전한 세계이기 때문이다. 『실천이성비판』은 자연과 자유의 통일을 매개함으로써 “이미” 지성적 도덕세계에서 완성된 하나님 나라가 어떻게 이 지상에서 “아직 아닌”의 의미를 가지게 되는지를 드러내 보여준다. 마지막으로 『이성의 한계 안에서의 종교』는 이 지상에서 실현 가능한 가시적 교회를 최고선이자 하나님 나라로 제시한다. 이러한 서술들은 칸트가 자신의 철학에서 하나님 나라라는 개념을 얼마나 중요한 것으로 간주했는지를 분명하게 보여준다.

영문 초록

In this paper, we will search the meaning of the Kingdom of God (Reich Gottes) in Kant’s philosophy. To this end, we will search how the meaning of the kingdom of God is revealed and developed in Critique of Pure Reason, Critique of Practical Reason, and Religion within the Limits of Reason Alone. To do this, we will assume that Kant presented the Kingdom of God in the level of general revelation, especially within the limits of finite human reason. Because Kant’s concept of the Kingdom of God developed in the level of general revelation can never be identified with the concept of the Kingdom of God presented through the Bible in the level of special revelation. Therefore, what is important for us is not whether Kant truly believed in the Bible and the Kingdom of God. Rather, what is important is to reveal how similar and different Kant’s concept of the kingdom of God is from the context of traditional theology, even though it was presented at the level of general revelation. In this regard, we will closely analyze Kant’s original texts, such as Critique of Pure Reason, Critique of Practical Reason, and Religion within the Limits of Reason Alone, to search how the meaning of the kingdom of God is presented and changed. First, in Critique of Pure Reason, Kant explains that the kingdom of God is an intellectual moral world and an afterlife for us that is “already” given to us. Because this intellectual moral world is a world that God created and rules, and is already a morally perfect world. Next, Critique of Practical Reason reveals how the kingdom of God, which is “already” completed in the intellectual moral world, by unifying nature and freedom, comes to have the meaning of “not yet” on this earth. Finally, Religion within the Limits of Reason Alone presents visible church that can be realized on this earth as the highest good and the kingdom of God. These descriptions clearly show how important the concept of the kingdom of God was in Kant’s philosophy.
