교양 영어 수업에서 다양한 테크놀로지 활용에 대한 학생들의 인식

국문 초록

디지털 도구 및 테크놀로지의 발전은 영어 교육 현장에 영향을 주고 있으며 대학의 영어 수업에도테크놀로지의 활용은 증가하고 있다. 본 연구는 대학생들의 디지털 도구 및 테크놀로지에 대한 인식과교양 영어 수업에서의 테크놀로지 사용에 대한 학생들의 인식을 탐구하였다. 설문조사를 통해 자료를수집하였고, 성별, 영어능력 수준별, 대학별 집단 간 인식의 차이가 있는지도 비교, 분석하였다. 연구결과, 학생들의 디지털 도구 및 테크놀로지 사용에 대한 긍정적 인식을 확인하였으며, 테크놀로지를사용하는 수업은 그렇지 않은 수업에 비해 여러 장점이 있다고 인식하였다. 교양 영어 수업에서 테크놀로지를 활용하기 희망하는 영어 학습 영역은 청해가 가장 긍정적이었으며 문법과 회화 영역은 가장덜 긍정적이었다. 테크놀로지를 어떤 수업 활동 및 단계에 활용하기를 바라는지에 대해서는 과제,평가, 성취도 관리 순이었으며, 수업 중 수업 내용의 도입, 전개, 마무리 단계에 활용하는 것에 대해서는낮은 평균을 보였다. 미래 교양 영어 수업의 테크놀로지 사용 및 교수자의 역할에 대한 인식도 조사하였는데 미래에는 더 많은 테크놀로지를 활용한 수업에 대해 긍정적이고 교수자의 역할이 축소될 수는있으나 교수자 위주로 수업은 진행될 것으로 보았다. 본 연구의 결과는 교양 영어 수업의 수업 설계및 계획에 참고할 수 있겠다. 특히, 집단 간 인식의 차이는 수강생 구성에 따라 수업시 테크놀로지활용에 적절히 반영되어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

The advancement of digital tools and technology is impacting the field of English education, with the use of technologyincreasing in university English classes. This study explores university students' perceptions of digital tools and technologyand their perceptions of technology use in general English classes. Data was collected through surveys, and differences inperceptions were compared and analyzed based on groups of gender, English proficiency levels, and colleges. The studyfound that students have a positive perception of using digital tools and technology, and they recognize several advantagesof technology-enhanced classes compared to those without technology. The area of English learning where students mostpositively hoped to see technology used was listening comprehension, while grammar and conversation were the least positive. Regarding the stages of class activities and phases where they wish technology to be utilized, assignments, evaluations, andperformance management were preferred, whereas the introduction, development, and conclusion phases of class content hadlower averages. The study also investigated perceptions of technology use and the role of instructors in future general Englishclasses. It found that students are positive about using more technology in future classes, and while the role of instructorsmay diminish, classes are expected to remain instructor-led. The results of this study can serve as a reference for classplanning regarding technology use in general English classes. In particular, the results illustrated that the differences in perceptionsamong groups should be appropriately considered and incorporated into the use of technology during classes based on thecomposition of the students.
