국문 초록

본 논문은 계시록의 “종”과 “종들”의 정체성을 파악하는 것을 목표로 한다: “나의 종들”(2:20) “하나님의 종들”(7:3), “하나님의 종”(15:3), “종들, 선지자들”(10:7; 11:18), “그의 종들”(1:1; 19:2, 5; 22:3, 6) “그의 종”(1:1) “동료 종”(19:10; 22:9), “동료 종들”(6:11). 요한(1:1), 모세(15:3), 천사를 가리킬 때(“동료 종”, 19:10; 22:9)는 단수형으로, 나머지는 복수형으로 사용된다. 이 목표를 위해 서사적 접근으로 종과 종들의 정체를 파악하며, 이사야 40-66장의 “종”과 “종들”의 구도와 구약에 나타난 선지자와 종의 관계를 역사적 배경으로 사용할 것이다. 본 연구는 다음과 같은 결론에 이른다. 첫째, 이사야 40-55장의 “종”과 56-66장의 “종들”이라는 구도에서 “종들”은 “종”의 후예이고 “종”의 삶을 배우고 따른다. 둘째, 계시록에 예수 그리스도를 종으로 칭한 본문은 없으나 예수는 “종들”을 탄생시키고 “종들” 의 모범이 된다는 점에서 이사야 40-55장의 “종”과 비슷하다. 셋째, “하나님의 종”(15:3)으로 불리는 모세는 그와 같은 선지자들의 모범이라는 측면에서 예수 그리스도의 경우처럼 모세와 같은 종의 길을 가는 신자들의 모범이다. 넷째, 요한계시록에서 “종” 또는 “종들”은 하나님의 말씀과 예수의 증언을 받고 전하는 선지자의 사명을 받았다. 마지막으로, 서사적 접근에 따르면, “종” 또는 “종들”은 땅에서 증언하는 선지자적 사명을 수행하는 증인들이지만 22:3의 “종들”은 새하늘과 새 땅에서 하나님의 종들은 하나님을 경배하는 제사장들과 같은 모습을 보인다. 말하자면, 요한을 통해 계시를 전달받은 성도들은 선지자적 사명을 땅에서 수행해야 하며, 새 하늘과 새 땅에서는 예수의 계시를 증언하는 것이 아니라 하나님을 경배할 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to identify “the servant” and “the servants” in the book of Revelation: “my servants” (2:20); “servants of God” (7:3); “servants of God” (15:3); “servants prophets” (10:7; 11:18); “his servants” (1:1; 19:2, 5; 22:3, 6); “his servants” (1:1); “a fellow servant” (19:10; 22:9); “fellow servants” (6:11). The singular form is used for John (1:1), Moses (15:3), and a fellow angel (19:10; 22:9) whereas the plural form is used for the faithful believers on earth and the worshippers in the new heaven and new earth. For this study I use a narrative approach to identify the servant and the servants in Revelation and examine how John adopts the theme of the servant and the servants in Isaiah 40-66. This paper comes to the following conclusions. First, Revelation does not mention Jesus Christ as a servant, but in giving birth to servants and serving as an example for them, Jesus can be identified with the suffering servant in Isaiah 40-55. Second, as with Jesus Christ, Moses “the servant of God” (15:3) is a model for believers to follow in his footsteps as a model for prophets like him in the Old Testament. Third, in Revelation, it is through the servant (e.g., John and Moses) or the servants that the word of God and the testimony of Jesus are received and delivered. Finally, in the narrative approach, the servants are seen as witnesses fulfilling the prophetic mission to testify on earth in the narrative approach, but the servants of 22:3 are more like priests worshiping God in the new heaven and the new earth. In other words, whereas the faithful witnesses testify to Jesus on earth before his second coming, they will worship God as the priests in the new heavens and new earth.
