국문 초록

본 논문의 목적은 튜레틴의 성경관을 연구하고, 그의 성경관을 비판한 잭 로저스와 도널드 맥킴의 비판이 정당한지를 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 먼저 튜레틴의 성경관을 살펴보았으며, 이에 대한 로저스와 맥킴의 비판을 연구했다. 그리고 로저스와 맥킴의 비판이 칼 바르트의 관점인 것을 확인했다. 첫째, 로저스와 맥킴은 칼빈이 성경의 적응성은 말했지만 무오성을 주장하지 않았다고 설명했다. 그러나 칼빈은 성경의 적응성뿐만 아니라 성경의 무오성을 말한 신학자였다. 둘째, 로저스와 맥킴은 성경은 구원을 위한 책이기 때문에 신앙과 행위에 관해서는 무오하지만 그 외 역사와 과학에 관련해서 오류가 있다고 주장했다. 그러나 종교개혁자들은 성경의 전체 영감과 무오를 강조했다. 신앙과 행위뿐만 아니라 역사와 과학의 영역에서도 무오를 말했다. 셋째, 로저스와 맥킴의 주장은 튜레틴이 스콜라적 신학 방법론으로 택한 결과 칼빈의 전통을 변질시켰다는 것이다. 그러나 방법론이 변한 것이지 본질이 변한 것은 아니다. 방법론의 변화와 본질의 변화는 꼭 일치하는 것은 아니다. 필자는 튜레틴이 스콜라적 방법론으로 신학을 변질시킨 것이 아니라 오히려 종교개혁자들의 사상과 교리를 체계화함으로써 성경 진리를 수호했다고 본다. 튜레틴은 신학과 신앙적으로는 칼빈과 연속성을 가지면서 기독교 교리체계를 정립하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to study Turretin’s viewpoint on the Bible and to find out whether the perspective of Jack Rogers and Donald McKim, who criticized his viewpoint, is justified. This thesis would survey Turretin’s viewpoint on the Bible, and then study Rogers and McKim’s criticisms on it. This thesis confirmed that Rogers and McKim’s criticism was in line with Karl Barth’s viewpoint. First, Rogers and McKim explained that Calvin had claimed the Bible’s ‘accommodation’ but he had not spoken of the inerrancy of the Bible. However, Calvin was a theologian who spoke of the inerrancy of the Bible as well as its accommodation. Second, Rogers and McKim argued that the Bible is a book for salvation, so it is infallible when it comes to faith and conduct, but the Bible has fallacies in terms of history and science. However, the Reformers emphasized on the Bible’s overall inspiration and inerrancy. In addition to faith and conduct, the Reformers spoke of inerrancy in the scope of history and science as well. Third, Rogers and McKim insisted that Turretin altered Calvin’s tradition using the Scholastic theological methodology. However, the tradition’s methodology was altered, not the essence. The change in the methodology is not necessarily the same as the change of the essence. This thesis observes that Turretin did not alter the Reformation theology by the Scholastic theological methodology. Rather, he preserved the truth of the Bible by systemizing the thoughts and doctrines of the Reformers. Turretin developed a doctrinal system in line with Calvin in terms of theology and faith.
