국문 초록

동아시아의 근세 세계화는 느슨하게 연결된 동질성과 강하게 드러나는 이질성의 병치로 정의되며, 광대한 왕권(the Notion of Cosmic Kingship)과 고전 문자 전통에 기반을 두고 있다. 이 연구는 동아시아에서 근세 세계화의 양상을 파악하고 표류인의 시각을 통해 그 존재를 확인하는 것을 목표로 한다. 먼저, 동아시아에서 근세 세계화가 존재했는지 살펴보고 이 시기에 이루어진 교류의 성격을 탐구한다. 주로 광대한 왕권과 고전 문자 전통의 공유라는 중요한 이데올로기의 교환이 동아시아의 근세 세계화를 특징짓는 요소였다. 이러한 상호 교류는 많은 세계화에서 공통으로 나타나는 특징인 동질성이 근세 세계화에 참여한 사회에서도 명백히 형성되는 데 기여했다. 하지만 이것은 현대 세계화와 같은 성질의 강한 동질성을 반영하지는 않았다. 그보다는 느슨한 형태의 동질성과 다양성이 강하게 나타났으며, 이 둘이 동시에 공존하는 것이 근세 세계화의 특징이었다. 초기 및 근대 세계화의 밀접한 동질성은 전 세계의 다양한 사회들을 통합하는 데 기여했지만, 근세 세계화의 동질성은 다양성이 두드러지게 하였다. 근세 세계화는 통일성이나 공유된 규범을 적극적으로 추구하지 않았기 때문이다. 광대한 왕권 개념과 고전 문자 전통의 공유로 느슨한 동질성이 나타났지만, 그 속에 종족 및 문화적 차이가 강하게 나타난 것이다. 이는 각 사회의 복장과 문자 형식에서 두드러지게 나타났으며, 또 오래 유지되었다. 이러한 분석은 초기 및 근대 세계화가 다양한 사회와 인구 사이의 밀접한 동질성을 증폭시키지만, 근세 세계화는 동질성을 적극적으로 추구하지 않았다는 주장을 강하게 지지한다. 이 연구는 동아시아에서 근세 세계화의 양상을 더 깊이 탐구하기 위해 표류자의 시각에 초점을 맞춘다. 동아시아 지역 내 표류자들의 행동과 표착지의 주민과 상호작용을 분석함으로써 우리는 근세 세계화의 존재와 영향에 대해 더 깊이 이해할 수 있다. 표류자의 시각을 통해 근세 세계화가 문화적 관행, 경제 체제, 사회 구조 등 동아시아 사회의 다양한 측면에 영향을 미치고 형성하는 방식을 살펴볼 수 있기 때문이다. 끝으로, 이 연구를 통해 세계화와 세계 각 지역에 미치는 영향에 대한 지속적인 담론에 기여하고자 한다. 동아시아에서 근세 세계화의 양상을 살펴봄으로써 우리는 현대 세계화 현상의 복잡성과 미묘한 차이에 대한 통찰력을 얻을 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Archaic globalisation, characterised by a juxtaposition of homogeneity and heterogeneity, is grounded in expansive kingship, and universal religion, which find expression in cognate attributes. This study aims to discern the manifestation of archaic globalisation in East Asia, confirming its presence through the lens of drifters. The preceding section examines the existence of archaic globalisation in East Asia and explores the nature of exchanges that transpired during this period. Primarily, the exchange of overarching concepts of kingship characterises archaic globalisation in East Asia. These reciprocal exchanges contribute to a homogeneity that is evident in societies participating in archaic globalisation, a trait common to many forms of globalisation. However, it is important to note that this homogeneity does not mirror the reinforcement of homogeneity, a hallmark of modern globalisation. Instead, archaic globalisation is typified by the simultaneous coexistence of homogeneity and diversity. While the initial and subsequent instances of homogeneity served to unify societies, diversity emerged notably in attire and written forms. This observation underscores the assertion that proto and modern globalisation amplified homogeneity among varied societies and populations, whereas archaic globalisation did not actively pursue uniformity or shared norms. In order to further explore the manifestation of archaic globalisation in East Asia, this study focuses on the lens of drifters. By analysing the movements and interactions of drifters within the region, we can gain a deeper understanding of the presence and impact of archaic globalisation. The lens of drifters allows us to examine the ways in which archaic globalisation influences and shapes various aspects of East Asian societies, including cultural practices, economic systems, and social structures. Through this study, we aim to contribute to the ongoing discourse on globalisation and its effects on different regions of the world. By examining the manifestation of archaic globalisation in East Asia, we can gain insights into the complexities and nuances of this global phenomenon.
