국문 초록

요절한 ‘천재 시인’, 송유하(1944~1982)는 풍부한 불교적 상상력과 끊임없이 새로운 것을 찾아 떠나는 보헤미안의 기질을 바탕으로 다양한 시를 통해 ‘지금 여기’의 현실을 예리하게 직시하고, 새로운 대안을 모색하는 과정을 보여주었다. 본고는 그의 시 중 연구가 거의 이루어지지 않은 그의 연작시, 즉 ‘암사동시’와 ‘시, 파천황’, ‘청동의 불’을 중심으로 살펴보았다. ‘암사동시’ 연작시는 ‘암사동’을 중심으로 삭막하고 우울한 현실을 살아가는 민초들의 고단한 삶과 ‘정의와 사랑’을 꿈꾸며 정직하고 건강하게 살아가는 아름다운 삶의 모습이 주를 이루었다. 이러한 삶을 웅숭깊게 들여다보는 그의 시적 자세는 가난한 삶 속에서도 의연함과 지혜를 잃지 않고 가족들의 삶을 꾸린 어머니에게서 배태된 것임을 어렵지 않게 발견할 수 있다. 다음으로 ‘시, 파천황’ 연작시는 부조리한 현실에 대한 저항과 ‘지금 여기’에서 탈피한 순수하고 맑은 무위적인 삶을 노래하고 있다. 그는 이 연작시를 통해 식물적 상상력을 바탕으로 자연을 노래하고, 자연과 인간이 상생할 수 있는 길을 지속적으로 모색하고 있다. 그 길이 ‘시, 파천황’의 길이고, 그가 추구한 시의 길임을 목도할 수 있다. 마지막으로 ‘청동의 불’ 연작시는 자본주의의 속성인 ‘속도’와 양적 팽창 등을 비판하고, 이로 인해 우리의 꿈과 사랑, 순수함이 담긴, 평화로운 유년이 사라지는 현실을 표출하고 있다. 그는 이러한 부조리한 현실에 파열구를 내고, 유년시절의 꿈과 사랑을 되찾기 위해 자본주의적 욕망을 ‘비워냄’의 방식을 통해 보여주고 있다. 송유하의 연작시는 ‘불교적 상상력’을 바탕으로 한 부조리한 현실에 대한 비판과 민초들의 건강한 삶의 아름다움을 노래하고 있다는 점, 어느 한 사조나 유파에 안주하지 않고 끊임없이 새로운 시의 길을 모색하고 있다는 점, 자연과 인간, 사회가 어떻게 조화를 이룰 것인지에 대한 관심을 표출하고 있다는 점 등에서 의의가 있다고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

The remarkable “genius poet” who died young, Song Yuha (1944-1982), with a rich Buddhist imagination and a Bohemian disposition, which always looks for the new, showed the process of keenly facing the reality of “right here, right now” and seeking new alternatives through various poems. This paper focuses on his series of poems, specifically “Amsa-dong Poem”, “Poem, Pacheonhwang”, and “Cheongdongeui Bul”, which have received relatively little research attention. In the series of “Amsa-dong Poems”, the central theme revolved around the lives of ordinary people living in the stark and melancholic reality of Amsa-dong, portraying their challenging lives and the pursuit of “justice and love”, depicting a beautiful life lived with integrity and health. It is easy to find that his poetic perspective, deeply looking into this life, was conceived by his mother who tirelessly dedicated herself to her family’s lives, without losing her dignity and wisdom even in impoverished circumstances. Next, the series of poems, “Poem, Pacheonhwang”, describes of resistance against the absurd reality and a pure, clear, and futile life away from “right here, right now”. Through this series, he uses a botanic imagination to write about nature, continuously searching for a path where nature and humanity can coexist. This path can be witnessed as the path of “Poem, Pacheonhwang,” embodying the essence of the poetic pursuit he aspired to. Lastly, the series of poems, “Cheongdongeui Bul”, criticizes the attributes of capitalism, such as “speed” and quantitative expansion, expressing the disappearance of the peaceful, innocent youth filled with dreams and love due to these irrational realities. In response, he ruptures this irrational reality, using poetry to demonstrate a process of “emptying” to regain the dreams and love of youthful days, aiming to reclaim them. Song Yuha's series of poems are meaningful in that they describe the beauty of the healthy lives of ordinary people, criticizing the absurd reality based on the “Buddhist imagination”, constantly seeking new paths for poetry without aligning with any particular trend or faction, and expressing an interest in how nature and humanity, as well as society, can harmonize.
