국문 초록

<더 글로리>는 여전히 대한민국 교육 현장에서 발생하고 반복되는 학교 폭력의 심각성을 다룸으로써 학교 폭력의 문제와 이를 주도하는 가해자들의 민낯을 가감없이 보여준 작품이다. 특히, 청소년기 시절 학교 폭력으로 인하여 신체적·정신적 고통을 당한 주인공을 중심으로 가해자 집단이 작은 틈의 발생으로 스스로 무너지는 과정을 다룸으로써 권력과 폭력의 문제를 전면에 내세운다. 이에 본고는 학교 폭력의 주동인 가해자 집단 속 구성원들을 중심으로 시절에 따른 권력 구도의 변화 및 폭력의 양상을 파악하고, 나아가 관계 파괴를 통한 권력의 약화와 집단 해체 과정을 살펴본다. 2장에서는 청소년기 시절 가해자 집단의 권력 구도와 폭력의 양상을 살펴본다. 청소년기 시절의 경우 집안의 재력과 사회적 영향력에 의하여 가해자 집단의 권력 구도가 형성된다. 가해자 집단의 권력자는 자유와 폭력의 방식을 동원하여 권력을 유지하지만, 자유와 달리 폭력은 자발적인 복종을 이끌어낼 수 없다. 그러나 자유의 방식 역시 그 이면에는 객관적 폭력이 감추어져 있으며, 수면 밖으로 드러나는 순간 언제라도 쉽게 깨질 수 있다는 점에서 불완전하고 약한 권력일 뿐이다. 3장에서는 성인이 된 이후 가해자 집단 구성원들의 관계가 균열되고 파괴되었을 때 기존의 권력이 약화되는 과정과 그에 따른 집단 해체가 이루어지는 방식을 살펴본다. 청소년기 시절 감추어져 있던 객관적 폭력의 가시화는 같은 가해자 집단의 구성원일지라도 서열에 따른 일방적 폭력의 문제점을 수면 위로 드러냄으로써 기존 관계를 파괴한다. 이 과정에서 서로 상대방의 약점을 이용하여 견고하다고 믿어 왔던 권력 구도를 전복시키려고 하거나, 이를 막기 위한 더 큰 폭력을 행사함으로써 가해자 집단의 권력이 약화되고 나아가 해체가 이루어진다. 결과적으로 관계 파괴를 통한 권력 약화와 집단 해체에 따른 가해자 집단 구성원들의 최후는 청소년기 시절 가해자 집단이 저질렀던 행위를 그대로 되돌려 받는 방식으로 처단이 이루어진다. 이처럼 <더 글로리>는 청소년기와 성인 이후 시절 학교 폭력의 피해자와 가해자 집단의 상반된 구조를 보여줌으로써 권력과 폭력의 관계를 파악할 수 있다는 점에서 의의를 발견할 수 있다. 또한, 후속 연구를 통하여 가해자 집단뿐만 아니라 학교 폭력의 피해자들과의 관계 역시 분석이 가능하다는 점에서 더 다양한 이야기를 이끌어낼 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

영문 초록

is a work that shows the seriousness of school violence that still occurs and repeats in the Korean education field, showing the problem of school violence and the bare faces of the assailants who lead it. Especially, focusing on the main character who suffered physical and mental pain due to school violence in adolescence, the issue of power and violence is brought to the fore by dealing with the process of a group of assailants collapsing on their own due to the occurrence of a small gap. Hereat, this paper identifies the changes in the power structure and the aspects of violence over time, focusing on the members of the assailant group, who are the main drivers of school violence, and further examines the weakening of power through the destruction of relationships and the process of group dissolution. Chapter 2 examines the power structure and aspects of violence among assailant groups in adolescence. The power structure of the assailant group is formed by the wealth and social influence of the family in the case of adolescence. Those in power in the group of assailants maintain their power by means of freedom and violence, but unlike freedom, violence cannot lead to voluntary obedience. However, the way of freedom also hides objective violence behind it and is only an imperfect and weak power in that it can be easily broken at any time the moment it emerges from the surface. Chapter 3 looks at the process of weakening the existing power and the subsequent dissolution of the group when the relationship between the assailant group members is cracked and destroyed after they become adults. The visualization of objective violence hidden in adolescence destroys existing relationships by revealing the problem of unilateral violence according to rank even among members of the same assailant group. The assailant group's power is weakened and further dismantled by using each other's weaknesses to overthrow the power structure that has been believed to be solid, or by using greater violence to prevent it in the process. As a consequence, the end of the assailant group members due to the weakening of power through the destruction of relationships and the dissolution of the group is punished in such a way that the assailant group members return to their adolescence Likewise, the significance of can be found in that it can understand the relationship between power and violence by showing the conflicting structure of the victims and assailants of school violence during adolescence and adulthood. Also, it is expected that more diverse stories will be drawn in that it is possible to analyze not only the assailant group but also the relationship with the victims of school violence through follow-up research.
