수와 연산 성질의 일반화에 대한 초등 수학 교과서 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 일반화된 산술의 관점에서 수와 연산의 성질 및 연산 간의 관계가 어떻게 일반화되도록 구현되는지에 관해 분석적-방법론적 접근을 사용하여 초등학교 수학 교과서와 지도서를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 성질과 관계를 다룬 사례의 분포는 학년 간 큰 차이가 있었다. 또한 성질과 관계를 다룬 사례에 비해, 그것의 일반화를 표현한 사례가 적었고 이 중 일반화 과정을 모두 만족하는 사례는 더욱 드물었다. 이와 같은 결과를 토대로 본 논문에서는 일반화 과정 및 표현을 보다 명시적으로 제시할 것, 일반화된 산술의 성질과 관계를 일관성 있게 제시할 것, 일반화를 다루는 시점과 표현 방법을 고려할 것 등을 시사점으로 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the elementary mathematics textbooks and teachers’ manuals in terms of an analytical-methodological approach to explore how the properties of numbers and operations and the relationship between operations were represented from the perspective of generalized arithmetic. As a result of the analysis, there was a big difference between grades regarding when to deal with such properties and relationships. A noticeable aspect was that the thinking process of generalization was not fully implemented, even though the result of generalization was represented. In order to increase the opportunities of algebraic thinking for elementary school students, the suggestions drawn from the results of this study include that textbooks and teachers’ manuals need to describe the process of generalization in a more explicit way, present the properties and relations in a consistent way, and consider when to deal with generalization across grade bands and how to present tailored to the developmental characteristics of students.
