초등학교 영재학급 학생들이 도구의 사용 횟수를 최소화한 정다각형 작도 방법 유형 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 초등학교 영재학급 학생들이 도구의 사용 횟수를 최소화하여 정다각형을 작도한 결과를 각 정다각형의 작도 방법 유형별로 분석한 것이다. 학생들이 각자 수행한 결과 중에서 우선 본인에게 가장 마음에 드는 작도 방법(대표성)을 표시한 후, 모둠원들과 토론하면서 모둠별로 가장 효율적이라고 생각하는 작도 방법(효율성)과 모둠 내에서 가장 아름답다고 생각하는 작도 방법(심미성)을 선택하도록 하였다. 그 결과 학생 개개인이 선호하는 유형은 대부분 도구 사용의 횟수가 적은 방법을 우선 선택하였지만 모둠별로 가장 효율적(경제성)인 작도 방법을 추천할 때는 도구의 사용 횟수를 줄일 수 있으면 좋고(최소성), 도구의 사용 횟수가 동일할 때는 방법이 간결(간편성)하여 설명이 이해하기 쉽거나(직관성), 다른 작도 방법에도 유용한 것들(응용 가능성)을 추천하였다. 특히, 영재학급 학생들은 도형의 시각적으로 드러나는 아름다움 외에도 본인들이 생각지 못했던 기발한 생각이거나 도형의 성질을 이용하여 활용 가능성이 높은 내면적 사고의 아름다움을 고려하는 경향을 보였다. 도구를 가급적 적게 사용하여 정다각형을 작도하도록 하는 도전 과제 형식의 작도는 초등학교 영재학급 학생들에게 작도를 통한 논리 추론을 유도할 뿐만 아니라 도형의 성질과 응용 가능성에도 주목해 보도록 하는 좋은 수업 소재가 될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the results of applying the mission task to construct the regular polygon by minimizing the number of tool use to the elementary school gifted students. Among the types of regular polygon construction methods that students performed, each persons showed their most favorite way of constructing (representative), and recommended the most efficient way(efficiency) and the best aesthetic thinking(aesthetic) of constructing through discussion with the group members. As a result, most of the students' preferred type was selected as the method with fewer tool use, but the method was chosen as the representative method which is considered to be novel or symmetrical and which is visually good. When recommending the most efficient method of drawing by group after individual activity, it is desirable to reduce the number of times the tool is used (minimum). But when the number of times the tool is used is the same, they recommended those easy to understand(intuitive) or those useful for other construction methods(applicability). The construction of the challenge form to construct a regular polygon with as few tools as possible has proved to be a good teaching material that not only induces logical reasoning through construction but also focuses on the nature and applicability of the figure.
