本稿では、文中での｢~というか｣の位置を分析するために統計分析のソフトウェアのStata(ステータ)と日本語学研究の融合を試みた研究として、分析の再現性や結果の信頼性の向上に役に立つ可能性を考察した。具体的には大量の資料を対象に分析段階の設計および体系的なコーディングを通じて様々なタイプの実用的分析の可能性を提供した。また、このようなビッグデータに基づく定性的分析と定量的分析の統合はより客観的な研究に求められることである。既存の研究では｢~というか｣の文法化に関連したビッグデータを基にコーディングを紹介した議論はなかった。本来｢~というか｣は文末から始まった表現として形態的·音声的に変形段階を経ていない原型であるにもかかわらず、文頭での出現頻度が文末より相対的に高い割合を占めた。この結果から、｢~というか｣がこれを構成する本来の語彙的意味とは異なる意味で使用されることを示唆する部分になり、さらに文法化も関連性を持つと考えられる。しかし、客観的で説得力のある｢~というか｣の文法化現象を扱うためには、このような分析を始め、他の関連表現との関連性を考察する体系的な研究を行われる必要がある。

영문 초록

In this article, I attempt to integrate Japanese linguistics with a Stata-based statistical analysis through the case study of the position of -toiuka in a sentence, exploring how this approach advances the reproducibility and the reliability of research results. More concretely, I suggest various types of practical analyses of a large volume of documents based on the proposals for analytic designs and systematic coding. Also, the integration of qualitative and quantitative analyses based on large- scale data is indispensable for objective research. In previous studies, the grammaticalisation of -toiuka has not been analysed based on large-scale data in connection with coding. Originally, -toiuka is a sentence-final expression, and it has not yet been subject to morphological or phonological changes. Still, the frequency of sentence- initial -toiuka is relatively higher than that of -toiuka at a non-sentence- initial position. This result seems to indicate that the sentence-initial -toiuka exhibits a meaning distinct from its original, lexical meaning and that this usage property can be construed from the point of view of grammaticalisation. In order to develop an objective and convincing analysis of the grammaticalisation of -toiuka, however, it is essential for comparing it with related expressions based on the present analysis.
