국문 초록

오영진과 고골은 한국과 러시아를 대표하는 풍자극작가들이다. 그들은 암울한 시대에 극예술로 민중교화를 꿈꿨으며, 희곡 <맹진사댁 경사>·<살아있는 이중생 각하>와 <검찰관>·<결혼>으로 이를 실현하고자 했다. 허풍쟁이·사기꾼들의 사기극이 주요 테마인 이들 작품은 실체와 외양 사이의 불일치가 만들어내는 인물들의 연극적인 삶에 주목하여, ‘연극적인 놀이’로 인간의 가면을 벗기고 조롱하며 인간성을 회복시키고자 한다. 이들 희곡의 ‘연극적인 놀이’는 무지한 관객들의 의식을 일깨우고 민족 정서에 따라 대화하며 교정하는 효과를 낳는다. 또한 한국근대극 정착기와 19세기 러시아 사실주의 무대에 각각 ‘연극성’을 고양시켜 극예술로서의 미적 성격을 강화하는 역할을 한다. 이들 희곡의 극중극적·민중극적·인형극적 놀이에서 오영진은 포용의 화해적인 태도를, 고골은 파괴적이며 도전적인 태도를 드러냄으로써, 오영진의 희곡은 ‘해학적’인 풍자를, 고골의 희곡은 ‘비판적’인 풍자를 보여준다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to compare the theatrical plays of Oh Young-Jin’s and Gogol’s satirical comedies. The object of this comparative study is Oh Young-Jin’s dramas · and Gogol’s dramas ·. The primary theme of these comedies is false fraudulent play of charlatans and swindlers. These comedies exposed corruption of people, who lived in the dark days. Especially, they paid attention to dramatic lives of characters, that discordance between substance and appearance make, and they took off the mask of swindlers, ridiculed it and tried to recover human nature by theatrical plays. Their dramaturgy for a stinging satire is ‘theatrical plays’ with various theatricality. ‘A play within a play’, ‘Traditional popular play’, ‘Puppet play’ of Oh Young-Jin’s and Gogol’s comedies humorously criticize the distortion of human and recover real human nature, and strengthen satirical reform function. In their satirical comedies Oh Young-Jin maintains pacificatory attitude and Gogol maintains destructive and defiant attitude, Oh Young-Jin’ comedy shows ‘humorous’ satire and Gogol’s comedy shows ‘critical’ satire.
