학문 문식성(disciplinary literacy) 관점으로 본 역사와 물리 교과서의 비교 분석

국문 초록

목적 : 이 연구에서는 역사, 물리, 독서교육 전문가가 역사와 과학 교과서에 드러난 교과의 성격을 살펴봄으로써 학문 문식성을 토대로 한 교과서 서술의 가능성을 탐색하고자 하였다. 3명의 교과 전문가가 5번의 전문가 협의회를 통해 용어와 개념, 서술어와 서술방식, 비문자 자료, 탐구 과제 등을 교과서 분석 준거를 삼고, 준거에 따라 역사와 물리 교과서를 분석하였다. 연구 결과 역사과는 당대의 사회 문제에 대응하였던 인간의 행위의 특성을 파악하는 특성이, 물리과에서는 실험과 관찰을 통해 자연현상을 이해하고자 하는 특성을 발견할 수 있었다. 하지만 교과서가 탐구형 교재로서의 역할을 보다 충실히 수행하기 위해서는 학문 문식성이 보다 더 잘 드러나야 한다. 학문 문식성을 좀 더 적극적으로 드러내기 위해 역사는 동일한 사건을 다르게 바라보는 다양한 행위자들의 관점을 살리되, 1, 2차 사료를 꼼꼼하게 읽어 방법의 엄격성을 유지해야 한다. 과학은 원리나 법칙의 발견과정이나 배경을 좀 더 다루어 학생들도 과학자처럼 법칙이나 원리를 발견할 수 있는 가능성까지 모색할 수 있는 교과서 서술이 필요하다. 이미 과학자들이 만들어 놓은 법칙과 원리를 배우는 것이 아니라 과학자가 원리나 법칙을 발견해나가는 과정을 보여주는 실험이나 관찰이 함께 제시되어야 한다.

영문 초록

Purpose : The purpose of this study attempted to explore the possibility of describing textbooks based on disciplinary literacy by examining the characteristics of two subjects revealed in history and science textbooks by majors in history, physics, and reading education. In order to accomplish this research purpose, the following research questions are constructed. Experts in history education, physics education, and reading education established the criteria for textbook analysis through five expert meetings and analyzed history textbooks and physics textbooks according to the analysis criteria that consist of terms and concepts, predicates and narrative methods, non-text data, and research tasks. As a result of the study, we found the features of understanding the characteristics of human behavior that responded to the social problems of the day in history, and the characteristics of understanding natural phenomena through experiments and observations in physics. However, in order for the textbook to fulfill its role as an inquiry-type textbook more faithfully, the academic literacy needs to be more clearly revealed.
