하나원 교육 교재의 개선을 통한 북한이탈주민 교육 경험의 향상

국문 초록

북한은 남한과 사회 체제나 문화가 달라 북한이탈주민이 남한에 정착하기 위해서는 먼저 하나원에 입소하여 사회 적응 훈련을 필수적으로 교육 받는다. 그 과정에서 발견된 몇 가지 경험적 측면의 교육 현황을 보면 다음과 같다. 우선, 북한이탈주민은 영어권 외래어가 섞인 남한의 한국어에 익숙하지 않아 교재 내용을 잘 이해하지 못하는 실정이다. 특히 북한이탈주민의 72%를 차지하는 여성 중에서도 임산부는 출산과 육아에 필요한 정보를 교육받음에도 불구하고 충분히 이해하지 못한 채 남한 사회로 나가 출산-육아 과정에서 어려움을 겪는다. 교육 공급자 입장에서는 탈북민 수강생의 이해도와 니즈를 세세하게 파악하기 어려운 측면이 있다. 이 연구는 하나원에서 제공하는 여러 교육 중에 임산부에 초점을 맞추었다. 연구는 디자인 사고(Design Thinking) 기반의 더블 다이아몬드 프로세스에 맞춰 진행되었으며 질적연구방법을 통해 탈북민 임산부의 교재에 대한 니즈와 진짜 문제를 규명하고 교재를 개선하는 데에 집중하였다. 연구를 통해 기존 교재를 북한이탈주민 임산의 눈높이에 맞게 리플렛 형태로 재디자인(Re-design)하여 하나원 교육과정 뿐만 아니라 수료 이후에도 활용 가능하게 만들었다. 연구에서 만든 리플렛은 하나원에서 현재 실제 교재로 사용 중이며, 디자인 사고에 기반하여 탈북민의 남한 사회 안착을 돕는 데에 디자인이 기여했다는 점에 연구의 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

South and North Korea have different social systems and cultures. Therefore North Korean defectors must first enter Hanawon Institute and receive social adaptation training. The current status of Hanawon’s education in terms of UX discovered during the process of training is as follows. First, North Korean defectors have difficulty understanding South Korean language because it is frequently mixed up with English words and expressions, which makes the defectors hard to understand the contents of the textbook. In particular, among women who make up 72% of North Korean defectors, pregnant women who enter into South Korean society after graduation have difficulty in childbirth and childrearing due to lack of knowledge and information despite being educated during their Hanawon training days. From the perspective of education providers, it is difficult to understand in detail the hidden needs of North Korean defector students. This study focused on pregnant women among the various education provided by Hanawon. The research was conducted according to the Double Diamond process based on design thinking, and focused on improving the UX of the textbooks used in Hanawon classes by identifying the true needs and real problems of pregnant women through a qualitative research method. Through research, the existing textbooks were re-designed in the form of leaflets to meet the eye level of North Korean defectors, so that they can be used not only in the Hanawon curriculum but also after completion. The leaflet created in the study is currently being used as an actual textbook at Hanawon. This study is meaningful in that the design contributed to helping North Korean defectors settle into South Korean society by developing solutions based on design thinking.
