西堂 李德壽의 東遊 체험과 詩的 形象化

국문 초록

이 글은 서당 이덕수의 東遊 체험과 그 시적 형상화를 살펴 서당의 시세계 일면을 고찰하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 서당은 1714년과 1724년에 걸쳐 금강산을 비롯한 관동지역 일대를 유람하고 다수의 시를 남겼다. 서당의 첫 번째 동유는 1713년 과거에 급제하고도 3년간이나 보직을 맡지 못해 실의에 빠진 시기에 이루어졌고, 두 번째 동유는 1723년 강원도 간성군수로 좌천된 후 이루어졌다. 두 번에 걸친 서당의 동유는 정치적 좌절과 맞물려 있다. 서당이 동유 체험을 하며 창작한 시는 51제 60수로 그중 칠언절구가 26제 34수로 약 57%를 차지한다. 칠언절구의 선호는 『西堂私載』에 수록된 454제의 627수의 시 중 칠언절구가 255수로 가장 높은 분포를 보이는 것과 일치한다. 이를 통해 서당이 詩作에 있어 칠언절구를 선호했음을 알 수 있다. 동유 당시 창작한 시의 형상화 양상은 ‘超然한 삶의 추구와 仙界로의 淸遊’, ‘적극적인 探勝의 의지와 유람의 흥취’, ‘道佛에 대한 포용과 긍정적인 시선’으로 나타난다. 서당의 동유는 정치적 좌절감이 계기가 되었음에도 불구하고 그의 시에서는 우울함이나 세상을 탓하는 울분감을 표출한 시는 보이지 않는다. 오히려 세속에 얽매이지 않는 초연한 삶을 추구하고, 적극적으로 절경을 찾아가며 유람의 흥취를 만끽하는 모습을 보인다. 또한 성리학자이지만 道佛을 아우르는 폭넓은 학문을 바탕으로 도불에 대한 포용적이고 긍정적인 시선이 나타난다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this article is to examine the aspect of Seodang Lee Deok-su s poetic worlds through his experience of eastern province journey and his poetic imagery. Seodang leaved a numer of poems during his journey of Geumgang Mountain and other areas of Gwandong province over 1714 and 1724. His first journey took place in 1713 at a time when he was disappointed after failing to hold a government post for three years even after passing the state examination, and his second journey was in 1724 when he was demoted to the head of Ganseong-gun, Gangwon province 1723. These two journey of Seodang were linked to his political frustration. During his journey, Seodang created 60 poems with 51 titles, of which Chileonjeolgu accounts for about 57% with 34 poems. His preference for Chileonjeolgu is consistent with the highest distribution of 255 among the 627 poems with 454 titles in Seodangsajae. Through this, it could be seen that Seodang preferred Chileonjeolgu in writing poetry. The shape of poem created at the time of journey appears as the pursuit of aloof life and travel to utopia of hermit , the will of finding noted tourist attraction and excitement of journey and embracement and positive view to Taoism and Buddhism. Although political frustration served as an opportunity for his journey, there are no poems that expressed depression or resentment blaming the world. Rather, he pursued a detached life that was not bound by the world, actively visited the superb view sights, and enjoyed the excitement of his journey. In addition, although he was a Neo-Confucian scholar, his wide range of studies encompassing Taoism and Buddhism enabled him to expose his embracement and positive view to Taoism and Buddhism.
