국문 초록

이 연구는 단양의 역사적 유적, 수양개를 초등학교 학생들이 미술 활동을 통해 어떻게 번역하는지를 탐색하고자 하였다. 이는 학생들이 지역 그림을 어떻게 번역하는지의 과정을 파악하면서 번역하기가 미술교육에 어떤 시사점을 제공하는지를 알아보기 위한 차원에서이다. 이러한 목적 하에 이 글에서는 학생들이 수양개를 통해 그들의 거주지인 단양에 대한 인식 또는 정체성을 형성하는 과정에서 번역이 개입한다는 가설이 세워졌다. 초등학교 4학년 23명의 학생들을 대상으로 2020년 7월 한 달 동안 매주 목요일 2~3교시 총 10차시의 미술 시간에서 수집된 지역 그림에 대한 사례연구가 실시되었다. 학생들의 지역 그리기 미술작품에 반영된 거주지에 대한 새로운 인식과 삶의 모습을 해석하기 위해 이 연구에서는 들뢰즈(Deleuze)의 인식론을 활용하였다. 연구 결과의 교육적 의미는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 번역의 미술학습은 학생들로 하여금 감각적, 강도적 표현을 할 수 있게 하였다. 둘째, 번역의 활동은 학생들에게 창의력을 향상시켜주는 데에 도움이 되었다. 셋째, 번역의 미술학습은 학생들에게 지역을 새롭게 인식하는 데에 이바지하였고 지역의 정체성을 새롭게 확립하는 계기가 되었다. 넷째, 어떤 행위소에서 다른 요소의 문화라는 네트워크가 수행되면서 하나의 부분으로 행위자가 되는 번역 활동이 단순한 의미 전달에만 한정된 것이 아니라 도착문화에 대한 끊임없는 새로운 질문과 의미 생성을 하였다.

영문 초록

This study attempted to explore how elementary school students translated Suyanggae, a historical site in Danyang, through art activities. This was done on the level of examining the implications that translation provides for art education by identifying the process of how students translate regional paintings. Under such a purpose, the study formulated a hypothesis that translations intervene in the process wherein students form their perception or identity with regard to their residence of Danyang through Suyanggae. A case study was conducted using regional paintings collected from 23 students in the fourth grade of an elementary school during 10 sessions of art class in the 2nd and 3rd periods of every Thursday for the month of July in 2020. In order to interpret the new perceptions and life images that students had formed of their residence, as reflected by the artwork from the drawing my region class, the study made use of Deleuze’s epistemology. The educational significance of the research results is as follows. First, the art learning of translation helped students make sensible and intensive expressions. Second, the activity of translation helped students improve their creativity. Third, the art learning of translation contributed toward students forming a new perception of their region and served as an opportunity for students to newly establish their regional identity. Fourth, as a network or a culture with different elements is performed in a certain actant, the translation activities of becoming an actor as a single part is not limited to the simple communication of meaning but rather ceaselessly creates new questions and meaning for the target culture.
