국문 초록

지속가능성의 개념은 2000년대로 들어서면서 환경파괴와 자원 부족에 대한 인식과 함께 미래를 생각하는 데에서 시작되었다. 현재 그 개념은 점차 확장되고 구체화되어 결과적으로는 우리 삶의 방향을 보다 발전적인 방향으로 이끄는 데 그 목표를 두고 있다. 특히나 공공디자인 분야에서 도시 재생이라는 측면에서 지속가능성에 대한 연구는 활발해지고 있으며 이는 쇠퇴한 지역 경제, 사회, 문화적 회복과 쇄신을 모색하는 방안으로 나타나고 있다. 본 연구는 공공디자인에서의 지속가능성에 대해 알아보고 공공디자인 분야에서 지속가능성을 나타내는 사례를 분석하여 공공디자인 분야에서 지속가능성이 발전하기 위한 방향을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구에서 문헌 연구와 사회.문화, 산업.경제, 물리.환경의 세 분야의 사례 분석을 통해 다음과 같은 지속가능한 공공디자인의 방향을 제시하였다. 사회.문화 측면에서는 정체성을 강화시키고 공공디자인에 대한 이해를 확산하고 참여증대를 이루어야한다. 산업.경제 측면에서는 지역활성화를 위한 도시경제 부흥 방안을 마련하고, 균형개발 및 도시안전 및 방재개선에 많은 노력을 기울여야 한다. 물리.환경 측면은 가장 직접적인 요소로 작용하는데 지속가능한 토지 이용을 활성화하고 지속가능한 자원 및 에너지 이용을 고려하며, 지속가능한 교통 시스템 발전을 통해 공공디자인의 지속가능성을 추구할 수 있다. 향후 공공디자인 분야에서 지속가능디자인 발전을 위한 구체적인 전략에 대한 연구와 실행이 더욱 활발해지기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

The concept of sustainability began in the 2000s, with the perception of environmental destruction and resource scarcity, and the thought of the future. Currently, the concept is gradually expanded and embodied, and consequently aims to lead the direction of our lives in a more developmental direction. Especially in the field of public design, research on sustainability is becoming active in terms of urban regeneration, which is seen as a way to seek to recover and revamp the declining local economy, society, and culture. The purpose of this study is to explore sustainability in public design and analyze cases that indicate sustainability in the public design field, suggesting directions for sustainability development in the public design sector. In this work, the following sustainable public design directions are presented through literature research and case analysis in three areas: social/cultural, industrial/economic, and physical/environment. In social and cultural aspects, identity should be strengthened, understanding of public design should be spread, and participation should be increased. In industry and economy aspect, great efforts shall be made to prepare measures to revitalize the urban economy for regional revitalization, and to improve urban safety and disaster prevention. The physical and environmental aspects serve as the most direct factors, such as promoting sustainable land use, considering sustainable resource and energy use, and pursuing the sustainability of public design through the development of sustainable transportation systems. Research and implementation of specific strategies for sustainable design development in the public design sector can become more active in the future.
