비접촉의 시대에서 바라본 접촉의 의미

국문 초록

코로나19(Covid-19) 팬데믹(Pandemic) 이후 사회적 거리두기가 강조되는 시기에 마가복음 1장 40절부터 45절의 나병 환자 이야기를 통하여 접촉의 의미를 살펴보고자 한다. 방법론적으로 트라우마 치유 관점을 이용하여 예수와 나병 환자의 접촉이 어떻게 나병 환자의 삶을 새롭게 하였는지 해석한다. 이에 앞서 문화 인류학적 관점에서 유대 정결례가 규정한 사회적 경계를 넘어 새로운 사회적 가치와 질서를 확대하는 행위로서 예수의 접촉을 살펴본다. 더불어 치유 기적의 관점에서 하나님의 구원과 현현을 체험하는 상징으로서 예수의 접촉을 파악한다. 그러나 위의 두 관점은 예수가 누구인지 밝히는 기독론적 의미를 중심으로 예수의 접촉을 해석하였기에 병자를 중심으로 접촉의 의미를 파악하는 것에 한계를 보인다. 트라우마 치유 시각에서 나병 환자는 육체적 그리고 사회적으로 죽음, 배척, 혐오를 경험하며 유대의 정결 경계선 밖으로 밀려난 트라우마 피해자이다. 그러나 예수와의 접촉을 통하여 나병 환자는 자신을 부정한 자로 규정하는 유대 사회의 현실을 대면하게 된다. 그리고 자신의 거짓된 정체성을 벗어나 개인적, 사회적으로 새로운 삶의 가능성을 확인한다. 예수와의 접촉 이후 나병 환자는 예수와 기적 사건 그리고 자신의 이야기를 증언하는 증언자로서 사회와 이웃과의 관계를 새로이 확립하며 그의 삶을 이어간다. 이러한 해석과 함께 본 소고는 코로나19 이후 교회의 세상과 사람을 위한 접촉이 위기에 빠진 사람들을 포용하고 그들의 삶을 복음과 함께 증언하는 것으로 전환하기를 제안한다.

영문 초록

In this contactless era after the Covid-19 outbreak, this article interrogates the contact between Jesus and a leper in Mark 1:40-45 in terms of trauma therapy. Before exploring the main idea, Jesus’ contact with the sick in Mark is explained from two perspectives: 1) the anthropological concept and 2) the therapy skills for Jesus’ miracle. In the anthropological manner, Jesus’ contact with the unclean patients and sinners is understood as Jesus’ crossing social and cultural boundaries of Judean society set by purity laws. Jesus’ touching as a caring skill in the miracle stories symbolizes the ways in which people around Jesus experienced God’s grace. However, this approach to understanding Jesus’ healing miracles seeks to explain who Jesus is in terms of Christology. They do not understand Jesus’ touching from the viewpoint of the unclean people. Methodologically, the theory of trauma therapy suggests the conceptual perspectives of the leper: from the contact with Jesus what they, as victims of trauma, are able to rethink their place in society and change their harsh lives. With these research points, this paper argues that the leper, after his contact with Jesus, was empowered to confront and challenge the social system under the purity law. Jesus’ touch causes him to raise doubts about the delusional ideology of the purity system which defined the leper as unclean, and to discover the possibility of his new life as a clean person. His contact with Jesus redefines his life as a witness telling the truth of the Jesus healing event. When he testifies about the contact between Jesus and himself in a public space, his life can be affirmed.
