“포스트휴머니즘” 정신은 세련된 인공 지능의 등장을 필두로 한 과학 시대와 결합하여 21세기에 들어서 더욱 확산되고 있다. 포스트휴머니즘에 대한 개념적이며 철학적인 논의는 20세기 후반에 본격적으로 이루어진다. 휴머니즘은 르네상스의 중요한 정신과 특징을 반영하고 있다. 이는 인간을 둘러싼 모든 외부적인 권위와 전통을 거부하고 새로운 인간의 세계와 문화를 옹호하고 구축하려는 문명의 산물이다. 그러나 전통적인 인간상은 비판적으로 재해석된다. 과학, 기술, 자본, 문화 변동 앞에서 인간의 조건에 대한 새로운 물음은 폭발하고 있다. 포스트휴머니즘 담론은 전통적인 인간 해석의 사각지대를 둘러싼 새로운 질문에 기반을둔 역동적 해석 체계이다. 포스트휴머니즘의 주요 문제 제기와 관점들은 어디에서 등장하는가. 휴머니즘 이후의 새로운 조건은 무엇인가. 본 연구는 포스트휴머니즘의 역사적 계보를 조명하고, 쟁점을 검토한다. 특히 본 연구는 “비판적 포스트휴머니즘”의 사상적 실험을 탐색한다.

영문 초록

The discourse of posthumanism is spreading widely in the 21st century, an era of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Conceptual and philosophical discussions on posthumanism took place in the late 20th century. Humanism reflects the ethos and characteristics of Renaissance thought. It is the product of a modern civilization that rejects all external authorities and traditions that used to control human ability and agency. Humanism has attempted to defend human autonomy and dignity and has cultivated a flourishing human culture. However, the traditional understanding of “humanism” is challenged by the emergence of AI in the era of posthumanism. The world faces drastic changes due to the rapid advancement of science and technology, while new questions about human conditions have arisen. Posthumanism discourse is a result of dynamic interpretation that must grapple with emerging questions. It enables and assists the discovery of blind spots in traditional humanism. This article poses the following questions: Where do the major questions and perspectives of posthumanism come from? What is the new condition after humanism? This study illuminates the historical genealogy of posthumanism and examines pertinent issues. In particular, the study critically engages a theoretical exploration of posthumanism.
