주류수요와 보건의료수요의 상호관계에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 1985년에서 2007년 사이의 년도 별 자료를 활용하여 주류수요와 보건의료수요의 상호관계를 두 접근으로 분석한다. 먼저 각각의 수요방정식을 설정하고 추정된 수요탄력성을 중심으로 교차가격효과를 분석하고, 다음으로 Granger 인과성 검증을 통하여 주류 및 보건의료 사이의 관계를 분석한다. 수요방정식의 추정결과 보건의료가격이 상승하면 주류수요를 감소시키는 효과를 확인할 수 있었고, 주류가격의 인상 역시 보건의료수요를 명확히 감소시키는 효과가 확인되었다. 구체적으로는 보건의료가격의 10% 인상은 주류수요를 1% 이상 감소시키고 주류가격의 10% 인상은 보건의료수요를 1% - 1.5% 정도 감소시킨다. 주종별 주류 수요와 보건의료 수요 사이의 인과성검증결과 소주 및 위스키의 소비가 보건의료소비에 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다.

영문 초록

In this study, we apply two approaches to analyze the relationship between the demand for alcohol and the demand for health for the period of 1985-2007. Firstly, we construct the demand equations and analyze the cross-price effects from the estimated elasticities. Secondly, we perform the Granger causality test between the demand for alcohol and the demand for health. We find from the estimates of the first approach that an increase in the price of health induces a decrease in the demand for alcohol. Specifically, a 10% increase in the price of health induces a 1% or more decrease in the demand for alcohol, and a 10% increase in the demand for alcohol leads to 1%-1.5% decrease in the demand for health. We find from the estimates of the latter approach that an increase in the price of alcohol leads to a decrease in the demand for health. Furthermore, we also conclude from the Granger causality test that the consumption of soju and whisky affect the consumption of health.
