문제설정능력 함양과 PBL(문제중심학습)에 기초한 글쓰기 교육

국문 초록

학습자의 글쓰기에 나타나는 문제점 중의 하나는 글의 가치에 대한 인식 부족이다. 학습자들은 글쓰기 이론 및 방법에 대해 잘 알고 있다. 그러나 실제 글쓰기에서는 신문·뉴스 등의 논의를 그대로 모방하거나 기존의 논의를 답습하는 경우가 지배적이었다. 이는 현실 혹은 기존 논의를 비판적으로 인식하고 이에 기초하여 새로운 문제의식을 창의적으로 기획하는 문제설정능력의 중요성을 간과한 결과다. 이러한 문제설정능력을 향상시키기 위해 본고는 PBL에 기초한 글쓰기 교육을 설계하고자 했다. 그러나 PBL의 일반적 과정을 글쓰기 교육에 그대로 적용할 수 없다. 왜냐하면 교수자에 의해 문제제시가 이루어지는 PBL과 달리, 글쓰기에서 문제제시를 비롯한 문제설정은 학습자에 의해 구성되어야 하기 때문이며 또한 PBL이 그룹활동을 전제로 하는 반면, 글쓰기 교육은 기본적으로 개인별 글쓰기를 전제로 해서 이루어지기 때문이다. 따라서 본고는 글쓰기 활동을 크게 문제설정과정과 문제해결과정으로 구분하고 문제설정과정에만 제한적으로 PBL을 적용하였다. 이 과정에서 학습자는 그룹활동을 통해 주제 영역을 정하고 조원들과의 토론토의를 통해 주제 영역과 관련된 다양한 자료 및 현실 상황에 대해 논의한다. 이러한 과정을 통해 주제를 정하게 되면, 주제는 글의 가치적 측면에 더 큰 기여를 할 수 있다. 이상의 내용은 글쓰기의 가장 중요한 요소 가운데 하나인 문제설정과정에 PBL을 적용하는 문제에 대해 논의한 것이다. 글쓰기와 PBL은 모두 학습자의 다양한 역량을 이끌어낼 수 있는 교육 방법이다. 따라서 두 가지 차원을 긴밀하게 연결시킬 수 있는 교육 방법은 21세기가 요구하는 인재를 양성하는 데에 기여할 것이다.

영문 초록

One of the challenges faced by learners when writing is their lack of awareness of the value of writing. Learners are familiar with writing theory and methods. However, in practice, it is often the case that they imitate discussions from newspapers and news, or follow existing discussions. This is the result of overlooking the importance of problem posing ability. This study aimed to design writing education based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to improve the problem posing ability of learners. However, PBL cannot be applied to writing education. Because problem posing in writing must be performed by learners, unlike in PBL and college writing education is premised on individual writing education. Therefore, this study divided the writing process into two parts: problem posing and problem solving. It applied PBL only to the problem posing part. In this process, learners define the subject area through group activities and discuss various materials and real-life situations related to the subject area with their team members. The theme thus created will contribute to the value aspect of writing. As such, the study discusses the problem of applying PBL to the problem posing process in writing. Writing and PBL are educational methods that can leverage learners diverse competencies, thereby contributing to the cultivation of skills demanded by the 21st century.
