국문 초록

본 연구는 우수 도시재생 모델로 거론되는 미국 보스톤시의 다운타운인 도심 회랑부를 그 사례대상지로 하여 보스톤의 빅딕사업 중 가장 중심인 도심의 재정비를 주 내용으로 하는데 많은 교훈과 시사점을 담고 있다. 본 연구에서는 회랑부의 계획과 설계에 근간이 되고 전체적인 방향을 제시하는 작업을 중심으로 내용을 전개하고자 한다. 기초적인 도시설계의 개념 디자인에서 고려사항들이 무엇인지를 밝히고, 각종 논의와 자료 등의 분석을 통해 계획 설계 작업과 어떻게 연계가 되어야 하며, 해결해야 할 주요 이슈가 무엇인지를 밝히고자 한다. 이를 통해 우리나라의 도심 재정비나 도심의 마스터플랜 작성 시 고려해야 할 사항들이 무엇인지를 추출하고 방향설정에 대한 시사점을 제시하는 것을 본 연구의 목적으로 두고자 한다.

영문 초록

This study has been reviewed as a first step that will produce a Master Plan and Concept Design for the final surface restoration of Central Artery Down Corridor in Boston. It also shows what is urban center renewal project, CA/T(Central Artery/Tunnel Project) or Big Dig, in Boston, USA. and how design concept has made for Rose Kennedy Greenway in Central Artery of urban corridor.As object of benchmarking and successful model case of urban center control, it would analyse the design concept in the focus of the physical aspects and social, cultural ones. Physical aspects include district(neighborhood), transportation, open space, building contexts and social cultural aspects include history, people, visual analysis, web of power.This case study, which analyze the Rose Kennedy Greenway in boston suggest that the elements for the successful urban center control include; (1)In the planning and concept design, considerable preliminary study is necessary not only in the physical aspects those are like transportation, district, building but also in the social cultural aspects those are history, population, power etc. (2) city s history and site s culture have to be reflected in concept design (3)it is necessary to converse urban policy from vehicle-oriented to pedestrian-oriented one especially in the city center and route quality for pedestrian moving is more important than the amount of sidewalks. (4) network system in greenway and waterfront (5) connection of neighborhood in the city center area.
