사이버섹스 중독의 위험요인

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 선행 연구들에서 밝힌 성적 충동성이 사이버섹스 중독에 미치는 영향을 재확인하고, 두 변인 관계를 중재할 것으로 여겨지는 성별과 파트너와의 성관계 수준의 영향을 같이 살펴보는데 있다. 이를 위해 기존에 있는 국외의 사이버섹스 중독 관련 척도들을 토대로 사이버섹스 중독 척도를 개발하였고, 서울과 수도권 소재 두 대학에서 남학생 185명과 여학생 188명을 대상으로, 성적 충동성(고저), 파트너와의 성관계 수준(전혀 없음, 애무, 성교), 그리고 성별을 독립변인으로 하여 이 변인들이 사이버섹스 중독 수준에 미치는 영향을 삼원 변량분석을 통해 알아보았다. 그 결과, 성적 충동성이 높고 남성인 경우 그리고 성적 충동성이 높고 파트너와의 성관계 수준이 낮은 이들이 비교 집단에 비해 사이버섹스 중독 수준이 더 높은 것이 확인되었고 성적 충동성이 높은 집단이 낮은 집단에 비해 사이버섹스 중독 수준이 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통해 남성에게는 여성에 비해 성적 충동성이 더 큰 영향을 미쳐 사이버섹스를 과도히 추구하게 만드는 것을 알 수 있으며, 성별에 관계없이 성적 충동성이 높은데 파트너와의 성적 관계가 만족스럽지 못할 경우 인터넷을 통해 대리 만족을 추구하게 되는 것으로 여겨진다. 이와 같이 성격 변인인 성적 충동성의 사이버섹스 중독 수준에 미치는 주요한 영향력이 검증되었기에, 사이버섹스 중독을 호소하는 이들을 상담하거나 치료할 때는 성적 충동성을 먼저 다뤄주어야 할 것으로 보인다.

영문 초록

The purposes of the present study were to replicate the previous studies regarding the effect of sexual compulsivity on cybersex addiction, and to investigate the moderating effects of gender and the level of sexual relation with a partner to the relationship between cybersex addiction and sexual compulsivity. The Cybersex Addiction Scale (CAS) was developed for this study, and it was examined that the effects of sexual compulsivity (high and low), sexual relation level (no contact, petting, sexual intercourse), and gender on cybersex addiction by 3 way ANOVAs from the data collected from 185 male and 188 female students in two universities. Results indicated that the main effect of sexual compulsivity was also significant. In addition, the interaction effect between sexual compulsivity and gender and the interaction effect between sexual compulsivity and sexual relation level were significant. That is, males who had high sexual compulsivity and those who had high sexual compulsivity and low level of sexual relation showed high scores on CAS, and the high sexual compulsivity group s CAS scores was also high. Thus, the study would suggest that 1) males are more influenced by sexual compulsivity in respect of cybersex addiction, that 2) those with high sexual compulsivity sought alternative gratification via Internet if not satisfied with sexual relations with one s partner, and that 3) that sexual compulsivity be considered preferentially when a client complains of cybersex addiction.
