영문 초록

City center represents symbolism, history, and landmarks since it is the face of a city itself. Especially an old city center with a long history has been intensified as a center for culture, commerce, and administration. Contrary to an old city center, a new city center becomes the hub point for activities if economy, culture, and consumption through the flat enlargement of the City. The study aims to investigate the programs of developed countries in UK, USA, and Japan, which countries already experienced the declined industries and the old city streets, and to review the strategies and the projects of regeneration driven by province governments in Korea. Also the research can figure out the problems in old city centers and suggest alternative regeneration policies on the base of the strategies to achieve balanced progress through the strong competition of regions, which can also provide some basic data for other cities.
