씨앗을 이용한 예술장신구 디자인 연구

국문 초록

장신구의 재료는 매우 다양하다. 전통적으로 금이나 은 등의 귀금속을 재료로 사용한 장신구를 통해서 사회적 신분이나 지위 그리고 경제력을 가늠하였으며 다이아몬드, 루비, 사파이어 등의 귀한 보석들을 사용한 장신구를 착용하여 권력이나 힘을 상징적으로 보여주기도 하였다. 그러나 최근 들어 장신구의 재료는 매우 다양해졌으며 금속과 보석뿐만이 아닌 가죽이나 천, 혹은 나무를 비롯한 플라스틱, 종이 등을 사용하여 제작한 장신구를 흔히 볼 수 있다. 현대 예술장신구는 상징적 의미와 함께 개인의 취향이나 성격, 그리고 관심을 보여주는 하나의 매개체로 사용되고 있으며 우리는 장신구를 봄으로써, 혹은 읽음으로써, 그 사람의 배경이나 개인적인 취향, 그리고 성격 등을 알 수 있다. 여기에 덧붙여 예술장신구는 재료를 통하여 작가의 개인적인 관심이나 이야기를 전달하고, 지난 기억을 회상하기도 하며 재료가 가지고 있는 의미를 전달하기도 한다. 예술장신구를 마주하는 사람들(착용하는 사람 혹은 감상하는 사람)은 예술장신구 읽으면서 작가의 생각이나 이야기에 공감하고 재료의 선택에 대하여 이해한다. 그런 의미에서 예술장신구에서 재료의 선택은 매우 중요한 일이라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구자는 우연한 기회에 얻게 된 수세미 씨앗에서 단순하지만 독특한 형태와 질감 그리고 자연스러운 색채의 아름다움을 발견하였으며 이를 계기로 씨앗에 대한 관심을 가지게 되었다. 자신의 사고를 대상물에 투영하는 것은 주로 예술가들이 하는 일 Wilczek, F. (원저 2016). 23. 이라고 했듯이 본 연구자 역시 씨앗이 가지고 있는 조형적 아름다움과 상징적 의미를 예술장신구를 통하여 보여주고자 하였으며 이를 위하여 씨앗이 가지고 있는 이미지를 모티브로 설정하여 예술장신구 디자인을 연구하였다. 제 1장 서론에서는 예술장신구에서 사용되는 재료의 변화에 대해서 고찰하였으며 씨앗이 장신구 제작을 위한 다양한 재료 중 하나로 사용될 수 있음을 이해하였다. 제 2장 이론적 연구에서는 첫째, 씨앗에 대한 일반적 고찰과 조형적 특징에 대하여 알아보았으며 둘째, 씨앗을 사용하여 제작한 작품의 예를 제시하여 씨앗이 가지고 있는 다양한 의미에 대해 알아보았다. 마지막으로 본 연구에서 조형 활동의 기반이 되는 반복의 개념과 특징에 대하여 연구 하였다. 제 3장 작품 연구에서는 첫째, 디자인 작업을 위하여 씨앗이 가지고 있는 상징적 의미와 번식 방법을 이미지 중심으로 조사하였으며 둘째, 중심 재료인 수세미 씨앗의 조형적 특칭에 대하여 고찰하였다. 마지막으로 이미지 연구 및 제작을 통하여 반복을 중심으로 한 장신구를 디자인을 전개하고 제작방법을 연구하였다.

영문 초록

The material of the jewelry varies greatly. Traditionally, Human used jewelery such as gold and silver to judge his or her social status, position, and economic power. Human also showed symbolic power by wearing jewelry with precious jewels such as diamonds, rubies, and sapphires. In recent years, however, the material of has jewelry become very diverse, and jewelry made of leather, cloth, or wood with metal is common. Contemporary art jewelry are used as a medium to show individual taste, personality, and interest, along with symbolic meaning. We can know the person s background, personal taste, and personality by viewing or by reading jewelry. In addition to this, art jewelry convey the artist s personal interests and stories through materials, recall past memories, and communicate the meaning of materials. The people facing the art jewelry (the wearer or the viewer) sympathize with the artist s thoughts or stories while reading the art jewelry and understand the choice of materials. In this sense, selection of materials in art jewelry is very important. This researcher has found a simple but unique shape, texture and natural beauty of colors from the seeds obtained by chance. As I said that it is mainly artists task of projecting his own thoughts on objects, the researcher also tried to show the formative beauty and symbolic meaning of the seed through art jewelry and studied art jewelry design. In Chapter 1, introduces the change of material used in art jewelry and understands that seeds can be used as one of various materials. In Chapter 2, theoretical studies, firstly, I examined the general consideration and formative characteristics of seeds. Second, I studied the formative factors and principles that are the basis of design. Finally, I summarized the morphological and physical characteristics of luffa seeds, which is the seed of the work. In Chapter 3, design research and production, I propose three directional designs using point, line, and surface molding elements. Each design applies the molding principles such as iteration, change, rhythm, and sense of movement. Due to the nature of the material, it is possible to minimize the deformation of the material and to have the fluidity at the time of manufacturing by using the joint method using the cold joint. I hope that the above study will not only broaden the range of materials for art ornaments, but also show new art ornaments design studies with the approach of design based on the principles and elements of design.this purpose.
