초등학생들이 생각하는 창의적인 사람의 이미지

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 초등학생들이 지니는 창의적인 사람에 대한 이미지를 조사하였다. 이를 위하여 체크리스트와 그리기(DAST)를 활용한 반복 비교분석법을 활용하여 초등학생 214명을 대상으로 창의적인 사람에 대한 이미지와 인식을 분석하였다. 분석 결과를 요약하면, 학생들이 표현한 이미지에서 창의적인 사람에 대한 일반적인(정형화된) 이미지를 특정할 수는 없었으며, 매우 다양한 형태의 이미지가 표현되었다. 창의성이란 말이 여러 복잡한 의미들을 포함하는 개념인 만큼, 학생들 역시 다양한 이미지를 각각 구성하여 가지고 있음을 알 수 있다. 학생들은 창의적인 사람에 대하여 오개념을 가지는 경우가 있었으며, 일부 학생들은 ‘창의적인 사람’이라는 표현 자체를 이해하지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 창의적인 실존인물로 학생들은 주로 남성인물을 떠올렸다. 대학생을 대상으로 한 선행 연구에서도 이와 비슷한 경향이 드러났음을 보았을 때, 우리나라에서는 창의적인 사람이 남성이라고 생각하는 전형적인 오개념을 지니고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 많은 학생들은 창의적인 사람을 ‘생각하는 사람’으로 표현하는 경향이 있었으며, 학생들은 창의적인 사람이 활동하는 분야로써 과학과 예술 관련 분야의 이미지는 많이 표현했으나, 체육과 정치 관련 분야의 이미지는 거의 표현하지 않았다. 이러한 분석 결과를 통해, 초등학생들의 창의성 인식에 대한 이해가 앞으로의 창의성 교육에 주는 시사점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate how elementary students define the Image of a Creative Person. The subjects of the study were 214 students in the fifth and sixth grade from the D-Elementary school in Seoul, Korea. A revised and developed survey method, referencing the DAST(Draw-A-Scientist-Test), was applied to the study. Students were asked to express their perceptions about the image of a Creative Person by drawing and writing. The collected data were classified into a standard type with a contrast comparative analysis method. In addition, the study also looked into the exposed image components using Check-List. The perceptions which can be the images of a Creative Person for elementary students were as below: First, students tended to describe the features of creative person focusing on creative behaviors, thoughts and tendencies. Second, the study came out with the result that there s a tendency of students to recognize people related to specific areas has more creativity than others. Student perceived that Science and Technology is the most creative area and Athletics is the opposite. Third, the study could deduct Representative Image of Creative Person for elementary students based on Check-List analysis. Students drew the images with the person with an ambiguous gender, wearing casual clothing, sitting on the desk, and meditating without any action. These results imply the tendencies of elementary students recognition about creativity by analyzing the research figuring out images of a Creative Person for school students. The study lends the ideas for setting the future direction of Creativity-related education.
