현대여성의 가정역할 갈등을 형상화 한 장신구 연구

국문 초록

근대 여성주의 운동의 결과로 현대여성은 사회활동에 대한 참여도가 높아지고 있다. 현대여성의 사회역할은 전통 가정역할에 더 이상 제한되지 않고, 경제, 정치, 문화 등의 분야에서 점점 더 많은 영향력을 발휘하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 현대를 살아가는 여성의 다양한 역할과 현대여성의 역할 갈등을 조사하고 분석해보았다. 그 결과 현대여성의 다양한 사회역할 중 가정역할에 있어서 임신에 대한 책임이 다른 역할과 충돌되어 갈등을 초래하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 즉, 현대여성은 자아실현과 임신의 사이에서 선택을 해야 하고, 이를 직면했을 때 발생되는 내외적 갈등이 가장 크게 나타났다. 이러한 이론적 분석 결과를 바탕으로 연구자는 현대여성을 표현한 예술 작가인 프리다 칼로(Frida Kahlo)와 주디 시카고(Judy Chicago)의 작품을 사례로 분석하였다. 그 결과는 여성성이 주로 상징적으로 나타났고, 작품 안에서 초현실주의 은유, 기하학적 형태의 추상과 종교 이야기의 인용 등을 통하여 표현되었다. 이러한 이론적 연구를 바탕으로 연구자는 스토리텔링 기법을 이용한 장신구를 통하여 현대여성의 가정역할 갈등을 형상화 하였다. 현대여성의 가정 이외의 사회, 가정과 자아 사이에서 역할 갈등의 근본적인 원인이 되는 임신 을 주제로 장신구를 제작하였고, 또한 현대 사회 속에서 여성의 자아실현과 임신 사이에서 이야기 되는 다양한 상황을 표현하였다. 이를 통해 연구자는 현대여성이 감당해야 할 다양한 역할 사이에서 어떤 선택을 하여도 타인과 사회 내에서 존중받아야 한다고 강조한다. 이러한 예술 장신구를 통하여 현대여성의 역할 갈등을 외부적으로 표현하고, 사회적으로 함께 고민할 수 있는 계기가 될 가능성을 확인할 수 있으며, 앞으로도 여성 주제에 관한 더 많은 작품 연구가 이루어질 것을 기대한다.

영문 초록

Under the influence of modern feminism, the participation of modern women in social activities is getting higher and higher. The social role of modern women is no longer limited to traditional family role, but also plays increasingly important roles in the fields of politics, economy and culture, etc. Based on the current situation of modern women, this study analyzes the role conflicts faced by women today. The study focuses on the fertility responsibility in the family role. And the crisis that modern women have to face between self-realization and fertility. In addition, by analyzing the works of feminist artists Frida Kahlo and Judy Chicago, explore women in art works. It is concluded that symbolism is the most important expression technique, including surrealistic metaphor, abstraction of geometric symbols, and the reference to religious stories. After synthesizing these theoretical studies, the study presents own views on the role conflicts of modern women through the intuitive visual art class of the storytelling jewelry. Modern women need to consider more when making choices between self-realization and fertility. The researcher believes that in the three dimensions (society, family and self) of modern women s balanced, fertility is the most important source of their role conflict. Even so, the responsibility of fertility is the most sacred and most respectable role for women. This study argues that modern women should be respected regardless of their choice in the balance between them. Through this study, we can determine the possibility of women role conflict as the theme of art works research, and look forward to more studies on jewelry of women s theme in the future.
