국문 초록

본 연구는 전통장식기법인 잣물림의 이론적 배경을 고찰하고, 유닛의 형태와 배열변화를 기초로 한 다양한 사례 연구를 통해 현대 패션 디자인에 잣물림 기법의 활용 가능성을 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 잣물림은 상침질, 사뜨기, 쌍미리 달기, 누비박기, 색동 등과 함께 쓰인 한국 전통 장식기법 중 하나이다. 세모지게 접은 직물조각을 절개선에 물려 의복을 장식하는데 사용하였다. 세모형태의 모양이 잣과 비슷하여 잣물림이라 하며, 입체로 표현되는 독특한 장식이다. 주로 한복을 만들고 남은 직물을 모아 시각적으로 강조하고 싶은 부분에 물려 장식하였다. 어린아이 저고리 깃이나 진동, 섶, 둘레에 반복적으로 둘러 장식하였다. 현대에 들어 잣물림은 의복 외에 베갯모, 상보 등 생활 및 패션 디자인에 다양하게 활용되고 있다. 잣물림은 개체 수, 크기, 자유로운 유닛 중첩표현 등으로 디자이너로 하여금 상상력을 유발하고 독창적인 디자인을 표현하는 수단으로 활용하고 있다. 잣물림을 현대적인 감각에 맞게 재해석하여 다양한 텍스타일을 개발하여 패션 디자인에 활용할 수 있는 가능성을 제시하고자 하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the theoretical background of pine needles, a traditional decoration technique, and to develop fashion designs that make use of the uniqueness of traditional culture through various case studies based on the change of form and arrangement of units. Jatmulim is a traditional technique of decorating fabric pieces, which have been folded into a triangle, by sowing and fixing them along cutting line. The technique is called Jatmulim because the shape is similar to a triangular pine nut and it is a unique decorating technique expressed in a three-dimensional structure. In the modern era, Jatmulim is being actively expressed in living and fashion props such as Korean traditional clothes, pillow ends, and tablecloths by utilizing diverse sizes and reiteration arrangements. In addition, decorating effects of Jatmulim is being expressed in diverse ways after going beyond three-dimensional structure and flat surface by utilizing three-cornered form of Jatmulim as embroidery and scraps of cloth. Jatmulim is used as a means of inducing designers to express imagination and original designs through the number of objects, size, and free expression of unit overlap. Reinterpretation of the Jatmulim according to the modern sense suggested a way to use in a variety of fashion design products.
