현대설치미술에서 오브제의 공간 확장에 따른 조형 표현 연구

국문 초록

설치미술은 1960년대부터 미니멀리즘 이후 대두되기 시작한 미술의 한 장르로 주로 특정한 공간이나 장소를 위해 만들어진 입체작품을 말한다. 1970년대 비엔날레를 통해 미술사에서 처음으로 하나의 장르로 부각되기 시작하였고 이를 시작으로 오늘날까지 다양한 실험적인 사고를 통해 그 범주를 점차 넓혀가고 있다. 설치미술은 관람자의 직접적인 참여를 통한 관람자의 체험, 경험 등을 중요하게 생각하며, 이러한 장르적인 특징은 관람자의 직접적인 소통을 통하여 작가의 작품을 이해하는 데 있어 효과적으로 작용하게 되었다. 이러한 특징은 다양한 소재 즉 오브제를 통해 이루어진다. 따라서 오브제는 단순히 설치미술의 재료에 국한되는 것이 아니라 작가와 관람자간의 교감을 제공하는 중요한 매개체로서 역할을 하게 된다. 이러한 이유로 설치미술의 발전은 오브제의 발전과 밀접한 관계가 있으며 최근에도 설치미술은 다양한 실험적인 사고를 통해 그 범주를 점차 넓혀가고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 현대미술의 한 장르로 발전하고 있는 설치미술의 개념을 살펴보고 오브제의 정의와 그 변화에 따른 설치미술의 발전과정을 알아보고자 한다. 이를 위해 첫째, 설치미술의 기원과 개념 및 오브제에 대하여 문헌 고찰을 시행하였다. 둘째, 설치미술의 시대에 따른 변화를 알아보기 위해 작가들의 작품과 이에 사용된 오브제의 특징적 변화를 관람자와의 소통을 중심으로 분석하였다. 셋째, 표본작가로 에르네스토 네토(Ernesto neto, 1964~)를 선정하여 그의 대표적인 작품들을 분석하고 그의 작품이 설치미술의 발전에 끼친 영향에 대해 오브제를 중심으로 고찰하였다. 이러한 내용을 바탕으로 최근 설치미술의 동향 및 발전 방향에 대해서도 살펴보았다. 본 연구를 통해 설치미술에서 오브제의 역할 및 그 중요성에 대하여 살펴봄으로써, 향후 다양한 오브제의 적극적인 활용을 통해 작가와 관람자들이 소통하고 참여하는 설치미술의 확장을 기대한다.

영문 초록

Installation Art is a genre of art that began to emerge after minimalism in the 1960s, mostly three dimensional works created for a particular space or place. It first began to emerge as a genre in the history of art throughout biennale in the 1970s and has gradually expanded its boundary through a variety of experimental thinking to this day. Installation Art values the viewer s undergoing and experience through direct participation by the viewer, and these genre features have become effective in understanding the writer s work through direct communication by the viewer. These characteristics are achieved through a variety of materials, or objects. Therefore, the object will not simply be limited to materials of Installation Art, but will serve as an important medium for providing interaction between the writer and the viewer. For this reason, the development of Installation Art is closely related to the development of the object, and has gradually expanded its category through various experimental thinking. The purpose of this study is to examine the concept of Installation Art that is developing into a genre of Modern Art, and also the definition of an object and the development of installation art as a result of the change. First, a literature review was conducted on the origin, concept of Installation Art, and definition of an object. Second, to see the changing times of Installation Art, the characteristic changes of the artists’ works and the objects used were analyzed around communication with the viewer. Third, I selected Ernesto Neto as a sample writer and analyzed his representative works and considered the effects of his work on the development of Installation Art around the object. Based on these details, we also looked for recent trends in Installation Art and its development directions. Through this study, we look at the role and importance of the object in Installation Art and look forward to the expansion of Installation Art in which writers and viewers interact and participate through active use of multi-sensory objects in the future.
