불평등과 범죄발생에 관한 연구

국문 초록

우리가 살아가는 이 사회에서는 범죄가 줄어들기 보다는 흉악한 강력범죄가 끊임없이 발생하고 있다. 이러한 강력범죄 소식을 접할수록 국민들의 두려움은 증대되고 있으며, 국민과 국민, 나아가 국민과 국가 간의 신뢰가 저해되는 현상이 제기되고 있다. 이러한 범죄발생의 원인을 찾고자 많은 범죄학자들은 다양한 측면에서 그 원인을 찾고자 하였다. 범죄발생의 원인을 범죄자의 개인적 요인, 심리적 요인, 사회환경적 요인 등 다양한 요인들이 제시되고 있으며, 어 느 하나의 요인으로 설명하기에는 부족하다. 이 연구에서는 소득불평등을 중심으로 범죄발생의 원인을 제시하고자 한다. 다양한 범죄발생 원인 중에서 소득 불평등과 범죄발생의 원인을 찾고자 하는 것은 우리 사회가 점차적으로 소득에 대한 불평등이 높아짐에 있어서이다. 특히 소득불평등은 계층 간의 갈등으로 인한 것으로, 하위소득계층, 중위소득계층 그리고 상위소득계층 즉 계층에 따른 상대적 박탈감으로 인해 계층의 격차가 커질수록 범죄의 발생가능성이 높다는 것이다. 따라서 이 연구에서는 종속변수는 절도, 강도, 살인, 강간, 폭력 등 강력범죄를 중심으로 살펴보았으며, 독립변수는 가구소득 Gini 계수를 활용한 소득불평등을 설정하였다. 또한 다양한 요인들을 통제변수로 살펴보았다. 경제적 요인으로는 빈곤율, 실업률 그리고 지역 내 총생산을, 사회적 요인으로는 총 인구, 외국인 비율, 이동 인구를 설정하였다. 범죄통제 요인으로는 경찰인력을 설정 하였다. 국내의 범죄발생 원인에 관한 연구 중에서 소득불평등을 중심으로 살펴본 연구는 거의 이루어지지 않았으며, 매우 미흡한 실정이다. 이에 이 연구는 기존의 연구들과는 차별적으로 소득불평등과 범죄발생의 원인을 살펴보고 이에 대한 범죄예방 정책을 구현할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

In this society in which we live, violent crime is constantly occurring, rather than less crime. As the news of such violent crimes comes into contact, the fear of the people is increasing, and the phenomenon that the trust between the people and the people, and even the people and the nations is undermined is raised. In order to find the cause of these crimes, many criminals tried to find the cause in various aspects. The causes of crimes are presented with various factors such as personal factors, psychological factors, and social and environmental factors of the offenders. This study aims to suggest the causes of crimes centering on income inequality. Among various causes of crime, the reason for finding income inequality and the cause of crime is that our society gradually increases inequality in income. Income inequality, in particular, is due to conflict among the classes, and the greater the disparity between the lower, middle, and higher income groups, that is, the higher the class, the higher the probability of crime. Therefore, in this study, the dependent variables were focused on violent crimes such as theft, robbery, murder, rape, and violence. The independent variables were income inequality using the household income Gini coefficient. In addition, various factors were examined as control variables. The economic factors set the poverty rate, unemployment rate and regional output, and the social factors set the total population, foreigner ratio and mobile population. Police personnel were set up as factors for crime control. Few studies on the causes of crime in Korea have focused on income inequality. Therefore, this study is expected to examine the causes of income inequality and crime and to implement a crime prevention policy.
